This PDF contains pages that explain the different types of words in the English language. It has the name for each type of word, a short and simple description and three examples. It includes: adjectives verbs adverbs nouns common nouns proper nouns conjunctions articles prefix suffix connectives prepositions To use this, I would either display it on a working wall, add it to a PowerPoint or turn it into a flipchart by punching holes and adding either ribbon or keyrings. I would print these and either display for the whole class to put their name on to describe how they are feeling, or I would use them primarily to communicate with the individual learner. I have created some flash card style communication cards to support your new learners in learning English and being able to join your classroom community without speaking fluent English. Each card has an image with the English word and Spanish translation to support both learner and adult in communication. There is a picture if the punctuation mark with the name in both English and Spanish making it clear to the pupil what is being asked of them.
