A new twist on a dimensional analysis (factor/ label method). This activity is for after you have taught dimensional analysis. Students need to apply the skills they learned to see if they can escape in time to avoid the incoming zombies. You can have the students compete individually or in groups and which ever individual or group gets the six problems correctly answered first is the winner. There is a worksheet for the students, a Zombie Survival Fact sheet with some conversions. The students will need to use the information given to make their own conversion statements. I have included a teachers key with equivalency statements and how to solve the problems step by step. Student worksheet (3 pages) Zombie Key (1 page) Teacher Key (3 pages)

Symbiosis is an interaction between organisms where they are so dependent on each other they are nearly as one. This bundle has a power point for the initial introduction to symbiosis: endosymbiosis, mutualism, commensalism, parasitism, predation and free living organisms. There are examples of each with graphs to display the relationships between the organisms. Students will be able to determine the types of symbiosis organisms are engaged in. I included the power point called Symbiosis Quest Power Point which is an activity where students have to identify the type of symbiotic relationship. It is a great follow up activity to this lesson. The slides can also printed as task cards. An answer document and key is included. This is a one page brochure foldable which covers the five types of symbiosis: mutualism, commensalism, parasitism, predation, endosymbiosis, along with free living organisms. Students have places to write definitions and there are data charts included for each symbiotic relationship so students can see how populations are affected by symbiotic relationships. The foldable only needs to be copied front to back. The key is included. the brochure is small and can be easily glued into an interactive notebook.

The Taxonomy Kingdom Classification Chart is great to use for virtual distance learning, hybrid, or in-person traditional classrooms. The chart / graphic organizer is for students to fill in the characteristics of viruses, Eubacteria, Archaebacteria, protists, animals, plants, and fungus. The chart is supplied in two formats, a one-page chart which is easy for digital application and a 2-page version which is easy to print on paper. Both can be used in a digital and traditional setting. The chart requires students to answer if the organism kingdoms are living, their genetic material, the organelles, how they reproduce, food chain levels, and there are sample pictures as well. Formatted for easy insertion into Composition Notebooks or Interactive Notebooks. You can also print out to use as worksheet, or use online as a digital worksheet. The digital chart is a fillable pdf form. Applications such as Adobe Acrobat, Lumen or Kami can be used to fill out the pdf. This chart goes well with the Taxonomy Classification PowerPoint. Students can fill it out while viewing the PowerPoint. The chart can also be used as a webquest or a textbook activity. It is very versatile. The virus column is for comparative purposes so students can see how different viruses are from living organisms.

Excellent bundle for working on dichotomous keys, reviewing dichotomous keys, researching or especially for end of the year activities which keep the students entertained following the AP Biology exam or standardized state testing. This is also a great summer school activity which will take a couple of days for completion. Cryptozoology Dichotomous Key: Monsters, Spooks, and Ghouls The students will be entertained with taxonomy over monsters, beasts, mythological creatures and strange diseases. This dichotomous key is a mixture of reality and myth. Students are given 25 organisms they need to identify. I also included two suggestions for extension activities. I usually use this as a cooperative lesson with my students paired up so they can work the dichotomous key together. This activity can be used in its power point format to upload to a classroom website and have the students use laptops or iPads to go through the pictures with their dichotomous key and answer sheet in hand. Displaying the pictures of organisms in a power point allows for students to see more details without the loss of clarity that happens so often with photocopied dichotomous keys. As an instructor you may choose to use the power point for whole class instruction and work through the dichotomous key with all your students participating. This works well with smaller classes, tutoring sessions or as an enrichment activity for the gifted population. If you do not have a class website or technology for you students you can still use this dichotomous key successfully. The slides can be printed out as task cards. I have placed little centers around the room and had the students move from center to center classifying the organisms. I like this activity because it keeps my hyper students in constant motion. Laminating the cards will give you years of use. An additional option is to simply print a few slides per page. If you are using color copies you would only need 10-1 sets and have the students work cooperatively. The students do not really need to write on anything except for the answer sheet. Cryptozoology Student Research Power Point Presentations Students will each be given a cryptid to research. Cryptids such as Big Foot, the Chupacabra and mermaids can all be easily researched online or through a smart device. Have the students decide whether they believe in it's existence or why they do not. your students must use scientific data to prove or disprove their existence. They must present their finding in an organized well designed power point and be enthusiastic in the presentation. This bundle includes a list of cryptids, a student question worksheet to help springboard their research and an editable rubric for your grading ease.

Viruses often boggle young students' minds. They are not living so can not be called dead. This power point and graphic organizer go over the reasons viruses are not categorized as living, explains their methods for reproduction, the lytic and lysogenic cycles. HIV reproduction in the human body is covered in detail along with the five drugs used in its treatment. Students are prompted to write about it in the foldable as well. There are a few slides dedicated to Ebola / Marburg, why they are hard to find and how the primate population of the world is being affected. The latest Zika virus is also presented and why it is detrimental to developing babies in the womb. Multiple common viruses are also displayed and described. Students will be able to distinguish viruses from living things and understand their methods of reproduction. Students will also be able to identify viruses based on their structure. Students will also understand that viruses infect all forms of life. Students can write about common viruses in the foldable. The power point and foldable can be presented separately or together.
