Electromagnetic Bundle: Power point, 2 foldables, Visible light worksheet with speed of light

(0)
Electromagnetic Spectrum and Energy Power Point The power point covers the electromagnetic spectrum, light, photons, waves and their characteristics. the relationship between frequency, wavelength, and the speed of light are introduced with the formula for speed of light. Calculating the energy of the electromagnetic waves is also covered with introduction to Planck's constant and the energy formula derived using the constant. How we see light is presented along with slides for each type of electromagnetic ray and how they can affect human health. I also have a slide on cosmic rays since they have the most energy of all electromagnetic rays. Electromagnetic Spectrum Graphic Organizer (with energy and light formulas) The fold-out foldable covers the electromagnetic spectrum, light, photons, waves and their characteristics. The relationship between frequency, wavelength, and the speed of light are introduced with the formula for speed of light. Calculating the energy of the electromagnetic waves is also covered with introduction to Planck's constant and the energy formula derived using the constant. Electromagnetic Spectrum: Eight Types of Waves 1 pg Foldable This one page foldable has eight flaps for a description of radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, x-rays, gamma and cosmic rays. There are illustrations, instructions and a key included. Visible Light Spectrum: Speed of Light, Planck's Constant, Energy of Light In this worksheet students will use a visible light spectrum chart to calculate the wavelength of different colors of light. Then using the light equation and speed of light the students will figure out the frequency for each color. In the next step, students will use the frequency and Planck's constant in order to calculate the energy each color of light carries. Students will also need to color the spectrum. I have mine work out their calculations on a separate sheet of notebook paper and turn it in attached to their charts. I have included an answer sheet so you can see what the final should look like. For my younger students I give them the color wavelengths. For my physics students I have them use the chart and figure the wavelengths out on their own. I use this in both Chemistry and Physics.

Types of Chemical Reactions Graphic Organizer Foldable

(0)
This foldable covers six types of chemical reactions; synthesis. decomposition, single displacement, double displacement, combustion and acid / base reactions. Student sheet allows for definitions and student notes. The teacher key has the answers and is set up just like the student printable for ease of grading and checking notes. There is also a half page dichotomy key that students can use while they are classifying chemical reactions. It is is a series of yes / no questions that will guide the students to correctly labeling their chemical reactions.

Evidence of Chemical Reaction 1 page Graphic Organizer Foldable

(0)
This one page graphic organizer covers eight evidences of chemical reactions; color change, odor change, temperature change, indicator change, gas formation, precipitate formation, composition change and the irreversibility of chemical reactions. The foldable is simple to photocopy front to back. The students have areas to draw examples they can relate too and the teacher key includes common instances of chemical reactions students will be able to identify with. The inside portion of the foldable has places for students to write descriptions and list examples of each type of chemical reaction evidence.

This file contains three chemical reaction foldables. Each one has a student and teacher version. The Three Foldable Bundle includes: INTRODUCTION TO CHEMICAL REACTIONS This is a one page foldable which is photocopied front to back. It gives students a overview of chemical reactions. The Law of Conservation of Matter / Mass, balancing chemical reactions, coefficients, subscripts , reactants and products are all covered. Students will be able to identify the parts of a chemical reaction and count atoms to make sure they are balanced for the reactant and product sides. This Matter foldable is great for using in a secondary science interactive notebook. Is is very simple to put together with a fold-out design. It covers classifying matter, states of matter, physical and chemical properties of matter with some questions for thought. This is an excellent study tool and can be used for intervention. You are supplied with the very simple assembly instructions and answer key. GREAT FOR ANY STATE!

The Atom: Graphic Organizer, Fold-Out Foldable, Interactive Notebook

(0)
The Atom Fold-Out Foldable is designed for secondary science courses. The anatomy of the atom is covered including valence electrons, energy level, isotopes and ions. The Bohr diagram and Lewis Dot structure are also covered. Students will also see what happens to an atom when the number of protons, neutrons and electrons are changed. I have included assembly instructions which is extremely simple and the teacher's key. EXCELLENT RESOURCE FOR ANY CLASSROOM!

Moles, Avogadro's Number, Percent Composition, Empirical and Molecular Formulas Graphic Organizer

(0)
This graphic organizer covers the precursors to teaching stoichiometry. The students begin reviewing atomic mass, molar mass, moles and Avogadro's number. Each definition is coupled with practice problems for the students to solve. The next concept is percent composition. there are instructions on how to solve percent composition from the compounds formula and from masses given. The last two concepts covered are empirical formulas and molecular formulas. Again there are practice problems you can solve with your class. I have included detailed teachers key and the foldable easily fits into a composition notebook or spiral ring notebook to complete an interactive notebook.

Dimensional Analysis: Zombie Survival (Factor / Label Method)

(0)
A new twist on a dimensional analysis (factor/ label method). This activity is for after you have taught dimensional analysis. Students need to apply the skills they learned to see if they can escape in time to avoid the incoming zombies. You can have the students compete individually or in groups and which ever individual or group gets the six problems correctly answered first is the winner. There is a worksheet for the students, a Zombie Survival Fact sheet with some conversions. The students will need to use the information given to make their own conversion statements. I have included a teachers key with equivalency statements and how to solve the problems step by step. Student worksheet (3 pages) Zombie Key (1 page) Teacher Key (3 pages)

Power Point: Electron Configuration is covered in detail explaining Quantum numbers and how they relate to each other. This power Point is designed for secondary science courses and includes practice problems within the power point with answers. Standard electron configuration, noble gas configurations and the electron configurations of ions are all covered and include practice problems. Orbital diagrams are explained with practice problems. There is a student handout included that has the slide number and problems on it so students can work the problems out along with the power point presentation. The handout is one page front and back. GRAPHIC ORGANIZER: Electron configuration and orbital diagrams can be very difficult for students. This fold-out foldable presents the main components with practice problems. This is a useful foldable that students can continuously review while working on electron configuration and orbital diagrams.
