A Social Narrative is an effective way to teach children how to navigate a new situation, such as starting school or preschool. Social Narratives can help children understand what to expect at school or preschool and they can be used to support orientation, which is particularly useful when children and families are not able to be on-site.  I have created a set of Social Stories based on the wonderful clipart created by Sarah Pecorino Illustrations. This story outlines the two characters and explains why they are often different colours throughout each story.

Social Narratives can help children understand what to expect at school or preschool. Encouraging children to try using independence in problem solving in situations where safety is a prime concern, is a common social skill that needs to be frequently addressed.  As educators we need to explicitly teach these skills. This story can be used to help children to broaden their technology skills and learn to work in a new learning environment away from school.
