Henry VIII and Katherine Howard Comprehension & Letter Task
Two activities to learn about the marriage between Henry VIII and his 5th wife Katherine (Catherine) Howard. PowerPoint presentation included to share comprehension text and main points of Katherine’s life. Activity 1 asks the children to read a text about Katherine Howard and complete comprehension questions responding to the text. This activity is differentiated to suit three ability groups. Activity 2 asks the children to write a letter to Henry begging him not to execute her. Both PDF and Word files (for editing) included.
Henry VIII and Jane Seymour double activity Tudors
Two activities learning about why the marriage between Henry VIII and Jane Seymour didn't end Henry's problems. PowerPoint presentation included to go through the main points of why the marriage ended. Activity 1 is a cloze procedure where children choose words to complete information about Jane Seymour. This activity is differentiated to suit three ability groups. Activity 2 asks the children to role-play the moment when Jane Seymour has just had a baby and Henry walks in. Then the children write what was said by the characters in speech bubbles. This is a really fun activity and the children love taking on the roles of Jane and Henry (especially acting out a sudden death scene) Both PDF and Word files (for editing) are included.
