ESL Pirate Alphabet - Perfect for talk like a pirate day + Pirate Writing Prompts+ 31 Teaching Tasks

(0)
I was trying to develop some ideas about how to present "Talk Iike a Pirate Day" to my lower ESL classes - those learning English or needing more support. I came across a video using the alphabet to teach about pirates using simple English and my Talk Like A Pirate resource, Pirate Alphabet, was developed. I hope you like it. The big idea is to print out the pages, and make them into fun flash cards. I have included a presentation explaining the 31 different ways you can use these flashcards in the classroom to help your children expand their vocabulary and improve their memory skills. In addition, I have added some creative writing prompts for a fun set of English lessons. You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different objects being shown in each of the photos. You could print off and laminate the images to make an interesting, eye-catching Pirate Alphabet display. The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different pirate related objects. The students can then discuss if they can think of other pirate related objects starting with this lesson. The images could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.

FREE KS1 21 Day Happy Kids Course - Makes Children Happier!

(0)
I found a wonderful 21 day happiness course (https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/ks2-21-day-happiness-course-for-kids-and-teachers-really-works-11205744), which I personally use daily. However it is not very useful for younger children. I rewrote it, getting the students to think about 4 things which are good in their lives and one moment of happiness from the current day. You would be amazed how hard this is for children to do. By doing this each day, every day for 21 days, picking out the positive and happy moments becomes a part of their every day existence. It has an additional benefit in the fact that this is also an excellent point of time for teachers and children to discuss each day what makes them feel good and what went well on the day. I would recommend this as an afternoon activity. To see examples of my own journals and those of my 6 year old son, please visit my blog at http://www.Barefootbuddies. com. Please leave a comment below to say how it went in your class.

Wordless Stories - Too Many Bananas - a lovely story from India.

Summary No one wants to buy the bananas that Sringeri Srinivas grows on his farm. Read to find out what he does with them and how he saves the day! This teaching pack comes complete with a presentation of the pictures in the book, a link to the original online story book and a worksheet showing the pictures in order. The presentation was originally made for my own ESL students who love having a structure of prearranged pictures to help them develop their own stories. The lovely thing being that different students can complete the same task, only using different words.

Wordless Stories Writing Pack - Topsy Turvey - What it is like when nothing makes sense.

Summary Everything is turning upside down in a little boy's house. Read this book to find out why. This wordless story reading, speaking and writing pack, takes a simple story about a boy and makes it much easier for students to attach words to the different parts of the story. There is a link to the original story, so the students are also able to compare their own stories to those of the original. I created this teaching pack as I needed to teach my own ESL students the skills needed to become story tellers. They so enjoyed it, that I thought I should also share the materials with everyone else as well!

Wordless Stories Writing Pack - Vayu The Wind

Summary Learn about the things that Vayu, the wind, can make happen. This is a great story writing pack. The students are given the images and the link to the original book so they get a good idea about the story. The students use the images to create their own versions of the story. They can mix up the images and create entirely new exciting stories. I wrote this presentation for my own ESL class. I was asked to create a wordless story writing task. My students really did enjoy this task and it did help them to extend their vocabulary.

The story is linked to the original so the students can get a good idea about what is happening. The pack comes complete with worksheets so the students can cut them out and rearrange the story in their own books. This teaching pack was originally written for my own ESL teaching class. As the students all so enjoyed completing the activities, I thought it only made sense to share these lessons with everyone else!

Sringeri Srinivas had very long hair. He wanted it cut on Annual Haircut Day. Everyone was busy. You will never guess who helped him that day! Read and enjoy ! Reading Level :2 Level 2: Learning to Read For children who recognize familiar words and can read new words with help I was recently asked to provide my ESL class with some wordless stories which they can add the words to and develop into a story. I looked online and could not find anything really exciting, and so I developed this teaching pack. It would be also perfect for anyone who is doing India as a topic.
