The Snail And The Whale is one of Britain's best selling children picture books. The images in this book come from public domain resources - not from the original book. I was amazed that there were so few teaching resources for this book and so I have written 16 Guided Reading Thinking Hat worksheets for the book. The images are not from the book, and you will still need to use the book to complete the reading tasks. FREE The Stick Man Story Workbook - 16 Thinking Hat Worksheets For Fun Creative Reading In Class. The Stick Man is all about a piece of wood which gets taken away by a dog, picked up by a girl and thrown in the river... where he is found by a swan. At each point he is further and further from home and less likely to make it back... this set of worksheets looks at the different Thinking Hat approaches to this book. They will consider facts, feelings, positives, negatives, creative approaches and finally make a mind map. This book does not contain any of the original drawings or text. Big Grammar Book 1: It’s jam-packed from cover to cover with a great selection of photocopiable worksheets taken from the popular website. We wanted to provide teachers with a really useful book of no-nonsense grammar worksheets that they can dip into and use in class with students at Entry Level (ESOL Core Curriculum Entry Levels 1 & 2). It is also ideal for students to work with at home since the answers are all printed at the back. The book is divided into four parts and is graded in difficulty, so that it begins with some basic stuff and builds up to more challenging grammar activities. It features a selection of Essential English worksheets which provide practice for crucial basic areas of knowledge for learners at Entry Level, like using numbers, writing the alphabet, spelling days and months correctly, and so on. Big Grammar Book 2: Like its older sibling, BGB 2 is packed with 101 printable worksheets for teaching and improving grammar skills in English. The topics are wide and varied, starting with Essential English worksheets that cover the basics, like the alphabet, days, months, and telling the time; then tenses (a lot about tenses!), then irregular verbs, question forms, word order in sentences, parts of English, uncountable nouns, and so on! If you have used the first BGB, you will know what to expect from this one. Around 25% of the worksheets in this book are closely modelled on activities in BGB 1, for example Full Stops 1 & 2 (pp.68-69). The material starts off at beginner level, with the alphabet worksheets, then gets progressively more difficult, while staying in Elementary (A1 / A2) level. Only towards the end do things get “tougher”, with articles, conditionals, and phrasal verbs making their inevitable appearance! Don’t worry – all the answers and notes for use are included at the back of this book.

Getting ready for the summer Phonics test? Here are two Phonics revision tests from previous years. I have converted 4 documents into a simple to use PowerPoint. It starts off with practice words. These include both real and made up words. These help students to revise how to say the words and to prepare them for the test. This is followed by the practice test. There are 2 levels, a simple level and a trickier level, In each case there are real and made-up words. This is followed by recommendations on how to say each word. This is followed by the marking sheet. These PowerPoints are fun, colourful and an easy way to practice the words either with a whole class or one by one with the students. Talk a Lot Foundation Course is for anybody who needs to better understand how to speak English like a Native Speaker. It will be especially useful for anybody who is studying with – or about to study with – Talk a Lot materials (i.e. Elementary Books 1-3 (https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/36-week-spoken-english-course-30-different-english-topics-covered-11157496) or Intermediate Book 1). The theory studied on this course will enable learners to get a lot more out of any Talk a Lot materials. The course is suitable for learners from Pre-Intermediate level (CEF B1) to Advanced (CEF C1) – and beyond. It can also be adapted for lower-level learners. It goes without saying that zero beginner learners will benefit from learning about word stress and weak forms as they take their first steps with vocabulary and sentence-building in English. The focus of this course is pronunciation – how we speak. The message of the entire course can be summed up in two words: stress and reduce – learners can improve their pronunciation by stressing the content words in a sentence and reducing the function words – then connecting the syllables together. The aim of the course is to teach learners how to do this. Learners will also develop their listening skills as they discover the techniques that English native speakers routinely use when speaking quickly. This is not a book to be picked up and read from beginning to end, but rather a collection of practical materials that need to be studied within the context of a course – guided by a teacher. This is not really a self-study book, although I’m sure learners could learn a lot from reading it on their own, and listening to the audio files (see below). The course is made up of four lessons of theory – Introduction and Basic Principles; Spelling and Sounds; Stress; and Connected Speech. There is also a fifth lesson with practical exercises, which can be repeated as often as you like – or have time for. This book contains the course material for each lesson, which may be given to learners on the course, and which the teacher can use to plan and facilitate the lessons. The materials in this course are fairly flexible. Each lesson has an outline of the main points, which are described in more detail in boxes, and then followed by examples and practical activities. You don’t have to follow this course as it is written word by word, doing every activity – although you could. You may decide to use the text as an outline, adding extra activities and examples that are more relevant for your learners, and taking away things that they don’t need. The timing of each lesson can vary – it will depend on the level of your learners, and how much time there is available. I would recommend a classroom session of at least 90 minutes for covering one of the theory lessons.

They would also make excellent homework sheets. I was very surprised when I could not find lots of guided reading resources about it, so I have written 16 Thinking Hat worksheets for this book. This workbook does not contain any of the original illustrations or text - it is designed to be used with the book rather than as a free replacement. These worksheets help you teach, but they still let you change anything you like or don't like. FREE Magic Train Workbook - 16 Thinking Hat Worksheets - Makes Guided Reading A Lot More Fun For All I have decided to build as many Thinking Hat resources as I can for TES readers. I have started by making resources for the fabulous Magic Train book (Published by Barefoot books). I took into account the need for simple text, clear font and I only have used self made resources and public domain resources, I have not used images from the books. I have organised them into sets of three - 3 Red Hat, 3 Yellow Hat, 3 Black Hat, 3 White Hat, 3 Green Hat and 1 Blue Hat. Comments for future improvements welcome.

I love creating Stickman Story Resources. I have focused on making Red Hat Thinking Worksheets tonight. These focus on the different feelings and emotions the central character have. The children have to match feelings to parts of the book, create a feeling graph and also describe how the character would feel in different circumstances. I love getting feedback on my work and I look forward to hearing if these worksheets were effect in your classroom.

I have designed a Thinking Hat Detention Reflection Worksheet. What makes it special? It makes the student think about their actions from 6 different angles. It looks as the positives, the negatives, the facts, the feelings, the future and where their actions might have been correct (thinking creatively). Then there is an interesting thought web to complete on the back of it. It is just a nice way to reflect on the actions without getting angry or being punished with more work etc...

You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different activities being shown in each of photos. I have combined a great presentation on volunteering with 31 different fun teaching activities you can try to do with your class. These activities will help boost their confidence, memory and vocabulary skills. You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching display about International Volunteer Day. The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different voluntary activities. The students can then discuss what they think each one was saying or thinking. The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.
