STI Bingo Activity

This is a fun warm up activity for 13 - 16 year olds, testing their knowledge of common sexually transmitted infections. The download includes 4 variations of blank bingo cards and a two-page answer sheet. Simply assign a number for each STI and write a key on the board. Ask students to write random numbers from 1-10 on their bingo card. Read out the descriptions of the STIs in any order, and ask the students to mark off the number associated with the matching STI. If you are short on time, play until a student gets 3 in a row, or for a longer activity, play until someone has filled their card. If resources allow, you can even laminate the bingo cards and have the students use dry-erase markers for multiple games.

To be used as part of Consent Lesson Plan KS3, this worksheet is a group activity to allow students to practice negotiation skills and compromise to reach an agreement. These skills are essential in understanding consent and how to ask for and give consent. Groups can be as big or small as needed, however the bigger the group, the longer the activity will take. All students need a copy as they will write their individual preferences in order to negotiate with the group.

It outlines that condoms are not one size fits all and a brief introduction to internal condoms and how they can be used to protect oneself. This also comes with a message of not sacrificing your own safety for someone else’s comfort which is a vital message to be teaching when it comes to consent and contraception.

This activity can be a class discussion or an individual exercise to demonstrate the complex nature of consent in everyday life. The scenarios outlined are non sexual, every day situations that pupils will easily understand, and yet will help them think about what consent means. This version of the worksheet is suitable for younger students, but can be used universally.

Sex Fact vs Fiction infographic

This infographic outlines some widely held beliefs about sex and gender and the actual facts. These ‘myths’ are not your obvious ones that are commonly used in activities but ones that require thought and discussion. This is good to get students talking and good for displays.

Consent Poster

As part of the Consent Lesson Plan, this poster outlines the key aspects needed for consent. It is designed for KS3 but can be used for older groups as well. It can be used for displays and discussion. Use it as an example for the students to design their own poster, perhaps adding a legal definition. But this is supposed to be a quick and easy way to check what is consensual. Please remember that consent is for everyday life, and not just for sex.

This lesson plan is for 11-15 year olds and goes through what consent is and how it applies to everyday life, rather than focusing just in the context of sex. It has opportunities for physical activities to make the lesson engaging as well as discussion to explore the topic. It is best designed for an hour’s lesson for 30 students but can be easily adapted. This lesson plan is FREE, but if you would like the resources to go with it, you can find them on my shop.
