Lesson 1 - What is an endangered species? (Used with 11-14 students) An introductory lesson to what an endangered species is, basic needs and an overview of various endangered species around the world. A lesson focused on the recent earthquake and Tsunami in Indonesia. Includes an introduction to primary and secondary impacts, then research factfile on the earthquake, with a final extended piece of writing on the question ‘Why was the Indonesia Earthquake so deadly?’ As this is recent, the figures given will probably need updated e.g. number of deaths Note: I have updated this powerpoint due to spelling mistakes

Question Grid Lesson - Developing Higher Order Questioning (Stand Alone Lesson) A lesson based on an idea taken from a number of other teachers and has been developed further myself. Lesson encourages students to write as many questons as they can in 10 minutes. Students then chose their best questions, and turn them into higher order questionning using the questionning grid. Lat activity requires students to use their imagination of what their answers might be.

What is development? Theme 3.1 IGCSE Cambridge Geography (can be used for any specification) An introduction to development including definitions, card sort development indicators, research using GapMinder and skills questions. Some ideas have been adpated from elsewhere

Deeper Picture Analysis A stand alone lesson to encourage students to develop their analysis skills of pictures. Lesson is based around one photo but can be easily changed to any engaging photo of your choice. All work is completed on A2 paper split into the 4 sections as highlighted on the powerpoint. Students spend around 10 minutes on each section. I give students different colour pens so I can monitor who is writing. I encrouage students write in any direction (upside down, on the side etc). Students then write up a description of the photography. Has been used with all year groups.

Causes of Rainforest Deforestation ** A very engaging lesson that is fully resourced. Contains a range of interesting videos to hook students. Instructions are on the notes section of each slide. Rainforest Management Campaign A planning a rainforest campaign lesson. Students analyse a range of different campaigns, then plan their own, and eventually peer assess each others. This can be used as a lesson before they actually create their own campaigns. In my previous examples of delivering this lesson students have created Posters, Instagram accounts and videos.
