Writing Unit originally planned for Year 6, but can be adapted for other year groups. There is a sequence of lessons all included that follow the writing sequence. The unit covers reading, vocabulary, and writing: character descriptions, story opening/ endings.
The link to the Youtube video that is used as a stimulus is also on the file too. The unit is desgned to last 2 weeks, but has the flexibility to be shortened or lengthened, as per needs of a class.

This is a student help sheet designed to hep pupils to describe characters through their actions. Using the show don’t tell method this help sheet has lots of ideas of how to describe characters in various situations be it: fear, joy, cold, relaxation and many more. This was designed and used in YEAR 5/6. This help sheet can be used during all creative writing units to develop the sense of using inferences as a description techniques to develop character.
