Following on from the story After the storm, we linked in science of testing materials. Children were asked to build a new roof for Percy's shed after it started leaking in the storm. Pupils built their own shed and tested the different materials to see if they were waterproof or not. Powerpoint includes 'odd one out' discussion starters about materials before explaining the task. Activity sheet for pupils to complete at the end of the experiment.

A game to support the teaching of number bonds to 10, as well as providing an opportunity to develop problem solving skills. Children are required to match the sides together to create one large hexagon, ensuring that each piece that touches adds up to 10. A challenge for all ages!

Easter themed lessons linked to the book Mr Bunny’s Chocolate Factory by Elys Dolan. No mages on powerpoint and worksheet due to copy rights, however if you have the book please refer to those images. Children loved the different activities particularly the maths challenge and instruction writing. Instruction writing - I had pupils draw an image similar to the one from the book where all the chicks are laying the chocolate eggs and then they completed their writing which was cut out and stuck on over the top to give the same effect as in the book. Maths: It helped some pupils who were struggling to have physical resources to support them, or even drawing out what it was they were problem solving.
