GCSE Music (Edexcel: pre- 1-9 curriculum) example Minimalism composition

This is an annotated .pdf of the .sib file (both attached) to help students understand how Minimalism compositions are constructed - texturally, melodically, harmonically and structurally, economy of ideas, exploitation of the medium - and being able to see key terms and to be able to learn them musically and not just a definition from a textbook! Any feedback would be gratefully received, thanks!

Buffalo Soldier - Chords and Lyrics

(3)
Chords and lyrics for Bob Marley's Buffao Soldier. Useful for KS3 classes, building up a band, adding in guitars, bass guitars, drums, glockenspiels, singers, backing singers, percussion etc. Also, useful for KS4 students who can play around with it and put it into different styles of music. Any feedback would be great, thanks! I have lots of other songs to add so watch this space!

Romantic Music
s_mcsweeneys_mcsweeney

Romantic Music

(5)
A useful start for Year 8 and 9 pupils into Romantic music. The task is a comprehension with the document - students answer questions based on picking out information from within the comprehension. Pupils then summarise information from the questions to come up with 5 most important points about the Romantic era. This is a document I'd re-worded from Wikipedia, adding and omitting bits where I saw fit. There are all kinds of things that can be added on such as more about instrument inventions, more composers, pieces of music etc. Any feedback would be great, thanks!

Lord Of The Rings Theme Music Checkpoints

(5)
The worksheet is a series of musical checkpoints - pupils put them in the order of what's happening in the music (see added Youtube link). First page of the Word document is the right order and the second page is the handout to groups/individuals. Can be edited to be used with other soundtracks or even orchestral or vocal pieces. Any feedback would be great, thanks!
Introduction to Jazz music

Introduction to Jazz music

(2)
Year 9 introduction to Jazz - 3 videos of Michael Buble, Jamie Cullum and Louis Armstrong Students learn 'added 6th&' chord, syncopation, walking bass, 3 different jazz rhythms and the 3 chords on the ukuleles. I planned to turn this into a group task but it&';s best to be led more by the teacher with stronger students playing 3 chords/the walking bass/improvising the melody on the glockenspiels/keyboards and the lower ability students to improvise rhythms on hand percussion/play the dotted rhythm on the hi-hat Any feedback would be great!
