Photosynthesis A level recap, including C4 and CAM photosynthesis

This is a lesson developed to be a recap of the main stages of C3 photosynthesis. It includes recap starter with timer, a card sort activity in groups followed by an individual activity to summarise C3 photosynthesis on an A3 sheet. C4 and CAM photosynthesis are then introduced and then an exam question is included with markscheme. The exam question includes a synoptic question which includes protein synthesis. It is designed for the new Edexcel Biology B A level syllabus, but would easily fit with any A level specification including AQA and OCR.

Kangaroo rat kidney adaptations

(1)
Written for an A level Biology lesson on how organisms can be adapted to save water in desert environments. I used this after teaching about the kidney as there is a required understanding of kidney function and nephrons. I used it for the Edexcel B specification but could easily be used for any other A level specification. Could also be adapted for use with KS3 and GCSE.

A level Biology Revision starters for Biological molecules

(0)
A powerpoint containing starters which I use at the start of each lesson with my Year 13 classes from now until exams. They are meant to be quick and only take 5 minutes of the lesson but gets them recapping in front of you on a regular basis. I always have good feedback from the pupils when doing this. This contains questions on biological molecules including; enzymes, proteins, water, nucleic acids, carbohydrates and lipids.

Orders of magnitude worksheet - AQA Biology (9-1) new GCSE

(0)
An orders of magnitude worksheet that fits in well with the eukaryotic and prokaryotic topic in the new AQA Biology (9-1) GCSE specification. It would work well with any exam board. Pupils are asked to use standard form and different units of measurement to fill in a table of different objects. Can be differentiated by adding further instructions. Hints are given at the top of the sheet for pupils to refer to.

Salmonella food poisoning activity, new GCSE (9-1) or A level AQA

(0)
A pupil focused activity on Salmonella food poisoning which gets pupils thinking and up and around a classroom. Sheet 1 contains 7 questions on Salmonella food poisoning which give the pupil a 7 letter code. These 7 letters link to the posters PPT which should be printed and stuck up around the classroom. Each letter gives the order to visit the posters in which will help to answer the extended questions on Salmonella food poisoning on Sheet 2. There are letters on the PPT posters which are irrelevant and are to catch pupils out. Answers for Sheet 1 and 2 are included. This can be used for the new GCSE (9-1) or A level AQA, but could easily be used for any exam board.
