I have been teaching for over 20 years. I have worked in schools where the pupils are obedient and where you have to be a moving target to avoid the verbal brickbats. In order to survive I have developed an outgoing and humorous style of teaching. If I am bored with a topic I know the kids are and I have quite happily thrown a topic out if it bores me daft! However, I am always looking for different ways to teach as I am never happy with the lesson just delivered. Like us all, I am striving for perfection that may never be in my grasp! I believe that you are never too old to learn new tricks and have continued to read up on the modern thinking on the brain and teaching, which is reflected in my ideas on how to develop your teaching. However, due to the length of my service, I can safely say that: If you stand still in education, you will soon be at the forefront of innovation and change! what I mean is, a lot of what is 'new' and 'exciting', is not new because we have seen it before.
