Coordinates Fun! PowerPoint (ACfE Second Level)

I created this PowerPoint to take learners on a coordinates journey first using one and eventually all four quadrants. It places coordinates in a real life context by linking them to real life experiences and includes links to a number of resources which can be used alongside the PowerPoint. I recommend you buy the book 'A Fly on the Ceiling' which is a great way to introduce children to coordinates in a more child-friendly and interactive way.

What is Financial Education? A PowerPoint for Parents and/or Staff

I created this PowerPoint to help teaching and non-teaching staff to reflect on the nature of Financial Education. The PowerPoint provides a brief overview of the 4 aspects of financial capability and takes a closer look at Glasgow context. I hope that this will provide an existing framework for you to adapt to suit your own context.

Financial Education Planning Tool (Curriculum for Excellence Second Level)

I created this resource over several months to provide my colleagues with an overview of the whole host of lessons and activities that can be delivered within the context of financial education at Curriculum for Excellence Second Level. Many of these can be adapted for First Level. For each curricular area, I have identified the most relevant Experiences and Outcomes, followed by suggestions for how these could be delivered within the classroom. There are also columns for assessment and for notes as required. This resource would suit practitioners in Scotland and beyond who are looking for simple yet imaginative ideas for delivering an interdisciplinary approach to teaching financial education. The ideas can be used discretely or as part of a themed Money Week/Financial Fortnight.

Adjectives Writing Lesson - ACfE First or Second Level

I wrote and have used this lesson plan numerous times and the results are always very positive. It is in no way fancy in how it has been put together but it takes you through the process of delivering a series of lessons where pupils will learn to: *understand that adjectives describe nouns. *identify adjectives in character descriptions. * use a mind map to build up a good character description. Clearly, the resource can be adapted to suit but hopefully it will provide you with a suitable starting point.

Games Based Learning ACfE Early Level

This was a PowerPoint my colleague and I put together to demonstrate the positive impact of games based learning in Social Studies. I have removed pictures where children can be identified but the resource as a whole should provide you with an initial framework and some useful ideas for developing a games based approach to learning within your own establishment.

This Piet Mondrian PowerPoint allows you to introduce the artist and his work to learners before they try and replicate his work.
