Comprehension activity which starts with a warm up- the children have to guess the words which could go in the gaps by reading around the words and understanding the context of the text.

This is an introductory lesson to the history of space travel used with Year 5. It details the main events and gives the children a sense of chronology. Used with a class of Year 5 children, this lesson details a healthy lunchbox.

This activity was used to begin our Space Race topic. A mystery rucksack was placed in the class room with the attached pictures inside. (we used a silvery, space- looking bag). As the items were pulled out, the children had to guess who the bag belonged to (starting with more random clues). This was used as a classroom display.
