A one off lesson about the Cold War. This resource was created for year 9s. Students are introduced to the concept by comparing it to a game of chess. This lesson is tried and tested and has been well received by a number of classes.

This lesson uses the ‘spaced learning’ technique to teach students about the Rising of the North of 1569/the Revolt of the Northern Earls/Northern Rebellion. Spaced learning works as follows: Phase 1 – Teacher talks, students listen Brain break – 5minutes Phase 2 – random questions Brain break – 5minutes Phase 3 – Students talk, teacher listens.

This lesson looks at the debate of marriage that surrounded Elizabeth I. It looks at Elizabeth’s main suitors and aims to explain and assess Elizabeth’s decisions regarding her marriage.
