Enlightening English

Hi and welcome! When I qualified as an English teacher, I was very proud to be the youngest member of staff at my first school... however that was seventeen years ago now. Over that time, I have built up quite a lot of resources from KS2 summer school up to A level Literature and from Entry Level to one of the top performing grammar schools in the country. I really might have something for everyone! There's also a lot of extra-curricular resources, especially to promote Reading for Pleasure.

114 PowerPoint slides with accompanying resources that work through the novel chronologically. There are links to the BBC Schools Radio production of A Christmas Carol which is an abridged version of the text broken down into episodes of approximately 15 minutes each. I’ve created some questions to go alongside extracts of the novel so that pupils can develop the skills necessary for GCSE Language Paper 1 alongside their Literature study.

A short PowerPoint to guide students in mind-mapping their reading experiences so far. Good ice-breaker with new classes and makes a nice display to promote Reading for Pleasure.

Descriptive Writing Workshop

A PowerPoint and supporting resources to use over a short run of lessons aimed at improving writing. The workshop is quite generic and would slot into any unit of work, but there is the option to develop the writing into a piece specifically focused on rivers. These river slides could be easily adapted to suit your chosen theme.
