Make a funny flap book or reading game using early Read Write Inc words and pre cursive font.

Make a funny flap book or reading game using early Read Write Inc words and pre cursive font. This was made as a fun activity to use at school and during remote learning periods. The first page is an explanation aimed at helping parents to understand how to make the book or game, but it can easily be completed at school as well. The game sheets are made using a pre cursive font as that was the style of handwriting used at school. It was felt beneficial for the pupils to try reading this style too. It could be used as an example to encourage older pupils to make their own flap books. As it took quite a while to create this, it is hoped it may be of some use to aid others in their learning. Have fun!

Read Write Inc Ditty Sheet 9 Odd One Out worksheet print font version After using the marvellous RWInc Ditty sheets, we found it useful to let some children use these “Odd One Out,” reading sheets. In my classes I have always found children enjoy this type of sheet and they hardly realise how much reading they are employing in order to complete them. It is important to let the pupil try to blend (Fred talk)/read every word as they go and if some need some extra guidance for that, you will soon know that they need the help. Some red words may also be included. I have made lots of these for the other Ditty Sheets and if they prove useful I can put more on TES. They may prove productive for some pupils if your school does not use RWInc. You do not need to use the extension if not suitable of course or more able pupils could write their sentences.

If you need evidence of a child’s number bond learning, then this sheet may help you with that. It asks them to use 2 numbers to make 30, then 35 and then 40, in different ways using a simple layout. You could use it as a practice sheet as well. I have used a font style with precursive lettering as this was requested for the class that has used it. Called Number Bonds Quiz 4 as I also created sheets for higher numbers.

Read Write Inc- red words search game 3 - pre-cursive letter formation This has been created and used in a school using Read Write Inc but also using pre-cursive letter formation. It is aimed at being a fun way of helping children to develop their word recognition using scanning and repetition and is great to encourage children to discuss their strategies for tackling such problems. As you cannot literally illustrate most of the red words, the illustrations on the sheet are there for discussion and perhaps to verbalize when trying to use some of the red words. You can also use them for simple colour, counting or size questions if you wish. This has been a really great aid with teaching and to send to parents if needed. As it was so useful at school, it is hoped it may be helpful for others.
