This resource is the for the first lesson in a series of science lessons based on animal habitats. It includes an editable worksheet, animal pictures and a challenge worksheet task. The task is to aimed to promote discussion about animals and their habitats and so I will be allowing my class to work with a partner or in small groups. The discussion should allow children to begin to make connections between habitats and adaptation.

*** Please note this is not my own original idea, but one that has been adapted from Pinterest etc. *** I made this resource to support transition/first week back to school worries. I shared the story Ruby’s Worry by Tom Percival and we discussed feelings of worry as a class. We also discussed how feelings of worry can be combated or made smaller. Each child recieved a cloud template with this short poem on and were given coloured strips of paper. They wrote some ways that they make their worries smaller on the strips and stuck them to the bottom of the cloud (like a rainbow).

This is a fabulous resource for getting to know your new class on transition day or the first day of school. The idea is that each child decorates the camera and draws four things that are important/special to them in the film reel. While the children were decorating, I chatted with them and took a photo of them on the IPad. I later printed the photos of each of them and cut out their faces to stick in the centre of the camera lens. These are then displayed in the classroom.
