This is a “Name the Movie and Genre” quiz for use in many lessons including Media Studies lessons. It shows 24 stills of films and they simple have to guess the film and the genre. I’ve run it for a range of lessons and it works very well. It can take between 30 and 45 minutes to do. Extension task is included in text at end.

This package includes two sheets; ‘Analysis of an art work’ deals with a series of questions about an artwork. It’s laid out neatly on the page with boxes and questions. ‘Evaluating your work’ helps the students think about their own work by putting forward a series of question bubbles that make them think about different aspects of their work.

This is a single sheet activity where you select a range of trailers and then the students answer questions about them. They have to name the film, genre, give 3 examples of Settings, Characters and Events in the film trailer. It is design to make students think about design aspects of film. Four Art GCSE based tasks around the artist Raija Jokinen. These are designed to be completed at home but are also good for lessons. They are focused on text and drawing with a little bit of 3D included. This project has been used many times and also works well for SEN students.

Home Study Art Project - Homework - Or in case of school closures this is a handy project that your students could work on over a period of two weeks amongst other work. This project is based around Shadow. It consists of 10 pages and a range of tasks that look at shadows. Also there is a page on the Artist Kumi Yamashita and the final work is focused on Shadow play and silhouette landscapes. The project is aimed at GCSE students.

This project can be used for Graphic Design or Art and Design. It is a 15 page booklet that covers the research, brainstorming and creation of the students own board game. It is a home study or homework project that can be used while schools are closed or during holidays. There is a substantial amount of work here, at least ten hours work. This is a lesson for KS3 looking at Royal Succession. It has two main activities: Putting in to order the those who inherit and then constructing a royal family. This involves colouring and sticking and discussion about families. There’s also a little bit of description about the theory.

This is a great and simple way of making a Christmas Decoration in your classroom - It a simple Christmas Bunting that many years and work. Infact I’d go as far as saying that the whole school could take part.

It features images of his work, biographical information, talks about the style of his work and influences. It deals with some major aspects of his work including the reclining figure, primitive influences, his use of found objects and maquettes and the war drawings. This is aim at students over 13.

A project looking at Islamic Art the forms and shapes with a number of activities. One of these does include having access to a printer. But this part can be left out and the other sheets can be worked on. It consists of five pages which includes some written research. This is for a home study project.

Guess the Famous person! This package features two power points that are good for tutor time, media studies or to fill a gap. They are fun and last for about 15 minutes. This is a three document project. This includes an instruction sheet, a form the students fill out and a compiled list of careers in art. This can be used in a number of ways with a range of outcomes. This highlights a collage project but the resulting work can be used to stick in books for example instead. One of the goals of this project is to show students what can be achieved in the arts industry. This resource is aimed at 10 to 15 year olds.

This quiz features 24 stills of films. The students have to name the character and a prop they use in the film. It takes between 30 to 45 minutes to complete depending on how long you discuss at end. This does include a reading out the answers section (which is at the rear of the document) and then scoring. I find my students love these and it breaks up the standard lessons. I throw one of these in after a hard two or three weeks on the same subject.

This is a simple sheet for a class activity in media studies. It’s a case study sheet on film Genre. It can be used a number of times because you select one genre and fill out the questions about it which deal with character types, props, sets and events.

We are looking at film genre in this sheet and finding similarities in films in the same genre. It’s ideal for media studies. “Select four films in the same genre and write them in the boxes. What do they have in common? Write it in the circle below.”

This is a single sheet with a layout for a Scheme of Work Topics Overview. What this allows a teacher to do is put down a week by week list of the key topics and therefore map out the year. I have put dates in to the columns so you may need to jig these depending on your term dates. I have included a PDF version to write on and a Word Doc to edit.

This is a log to be filled in while watching a film. It is designed to show that the young learners can identify the settings and events in a film, and can be used as evidence for assessment. This is really a media studies sheet but can be used as a general activity.

Here is a hand sheet for students to come up with a concept for their own film. It works as a starting point and can be used in Media Studies or English, maybe even just in general studies. It poses a series of questions to fill in to give an over view of the film including name, setting, locations and description.
