National Curriculum Word Lists: Y3/4 and Y5/6 power-points for class use

Phase 3: phoneme 'ch' - assorted table cards including a set in Dyslexic font, sentence cards, lotto games, A5 pictures, sliders and presentation [word bank] . Can be printed on card or paper and laminated for year-on-year use.

Phase 5 alternative pronunciations: Draw the 'sound buttons' activity. Complete set of Phase 5 graphemes. 1. Child draws a sausage [a line] under the grapheme being learned, e.g. ow, ie, ea, er, etc. 2. They then draw a bean [a small dot] for each single phoneme e.g. a, e, i, o and u, and sausages for any graphemes that make one sound [e.g. ch sh th...]. A small cross is used for any silent letter. An example is done on each page. 3. The 'sausages and beans' then become the Sound Buttons, so the child then 'presses' the sound buttons and sound out to blend each word not forgetting the alternative sound being learnt. The word list can be used for writing too.

Phase 2/3, Rhyming Family blending table cards. Children make and write words that rhyme by ‘moving the fork-lift up and down’. Great for blending known phonemes. Then move on to sentences. Can be printed on card or on paper and laminated for year-on-year use.

Over 100 ‘Just For Fun’ short poems, rhymes and limericks, collated with poet’s name added where possible. Ideal for KS1 poetry lessons, learning by heart in class and to send home a poem a week in a Poetry Journal. Enjoy at any time too, between lessons, involve children by asking them to choose a poem. Punctuation Pyramid [based on Ros Wilson] for table use. MS Publisher file: colour print on A3 paper; laminate and build pyramids [e.g. sellotape edges] - one for each table [these will last year after year - had mine in constant use for 7 years now]. Chn use them for revision, inspiration etc.

A complete mat of all the GPCs in Letters & Sounds Phase 3 - one mat with the tricky words in that Phase. Each GPC has an associated picture. Copy, laminate, use for support, games in pairs, display etc,
