Hi! Here, you'll find mainly phonic related resources - Phase 2 to 6 and Year 3 spellings. No matter what systematic synthetic phonics teaching programme you follow, these resources will support and enhance your teaching and your children's learning. I've worked 16 years in KS1 and 3 years in Year 3. After spending a super last year in Year 1, I have now retired!!! But i will continue to share my resources with teachers everywhere!! Enjoy!

Phase 5 alternative pronunciations: Draw the 'sound buttons' [sausages and beans]

(1)
Phase 5 alternative pronunciations: Draw the 'sound buttons' activity. Complete set of Phase 5 graphemes. 1. Child draws a sausage [a line] under the grapheme being learned, e.g. ow, ie, ea, er, etc. 2. They then draw a bean [a small dot] for each single phoneme e.g. a, e, i, o and u, and sausages for any graphemes that make one sound [e.g. ch sh th...]. A small cross is used for any silent letter. An example is done on each page. 3. The 'sausages and beans' then become the Sound Buttons, so the child then 'presses' the sound buttons and sound out to blend each word not forgetting the alternative sound being learnt. The word list can be used for writing too.
