This is a check list of AQA 1C Tudor A Level essay questions. The students are able to tick if they have planned the question or tick if they have written a response. I have created this in an effort to continue encouraging my Year 13 students to revise by applying their knowledge. The questions have been taken from the Oxford AQA Tudor text book, the Hodder Revision Guide and the AQA Specimen papers. In some cases the questions are adapted Year 12 questions.

This 1 hour lesson focuses on responses to cholera, it starts with a five question 'silent starter'. It then compares people’s beliefs about the causes of cholera compared to the Black Death and Plague. It then asks students to read the responses to Cholera (sheet provided) and create a summary chart of the responses to the Black Death, Plague and Cholera-discussion focuses on comparisons.

Content list of what could possibly be included in the following essay questions...this is not designed to be prescriptive. It is designed to get students thinking about the AQA skills of balance, depth and range. I usually set them a planning challenge-5 minutes to plan and then we go through what can be included in the question. The questions are from the Oxford AQA Tudor text book; ‘Elizabethan government had more weaknesses than strengths in the years 1558 to 1588.’ Assess the validity of this view. ‘Elizabethan I’s policy towards Spain was always weak and unconvincing.’ Assess the validity of this view with reference to the years 1568-1603. To what extent did the plots and rebellions faced by the Crown during the reign of Elizabeth pose a real threat to the stability of the Elizabethan state?
