I love teaching and always ask for new responsibilities to broaden my knowledge. I am a documentary buff so I also write movie guides on a variety of Social Studies and Health related topics in addition to World Languages. I am excited to be able to share lessons with others and welcome your feedback.

Common Prepositions in Spanish

Ever wish you had a list of prepositions to give to higher level Spanish students to use when they are doing journal entries or guided writings? Well, now you do! :) I let my students use these when they are composing paragraphs on assessments. I ask them to use a finite number (you decide) and underline or circle them as they write to identify they have used them.

Make learning numbers fun. Students circle the numbers as you read them in the target language. Each row gets a little faster with row 5 being the "speed row". Reward perfect papers with candy/points, then play another round. This grid can be used for any foreign language or basic ESL activity.

Vocabulary List: El Medio Ambiente

This blackline master vocabulary list contains 68 terms in Spanish and English for a thematic unit on the environment and accompanies the powerpoint for sale in my store. (List is free) There is a 3rd column for students to create definitions of the words in Spanish or create a sentence that uses each word which can be assigned as homework or completed as you present the powerpoint.

Rows of alphabet letters for you to read to beginning students as a game. Easy fun way to practice learning the alphabet and drill on those pesky vowels. Could easily be adapted (remove a few letters) for French or German practice. Enjoy.

Verb Tense Review Grid

My Spanish IV students asked me to prepare them a review grid of tenses (present, preterite, imperfect, future, conditional and subjunctive) for most commonly used verbs. There are no conjugations on this grid, but its a useful template if want to give students extra practice or a review before they start creating or narrating a story. No answer key for this one, but its free for anyone who can use it. :)

This short powerpoint has 10 Sesame street characters that you can use to practice adjectives and colors with beginning Spanish students. Warm up activity takes about 15 minutes and works best for a beginning Spanish class or as a quick review of adjective agreement.

This version of the number game includes all numbers from 0-100 in rounds of five rows each. Good practice for any target language or ESL. You read the numbers, students circle what they hear. Read each row faster to increase the challenge. This is also an excellent bell ringer activity to review numbers for higher levels as most books never practice numbers again after first year.

Stem changer Practice Grid for Verb Conjugation

My students "asked" me to make this for them to get extra practice handling preterite -IR verbs that take a stem change. No rocket science here, but it is helpful for getting used to where to make the spell change. Hope its helpful to your students too.

LABEL THE SCHOOL IN SPANISH

This is just a file of large words that you can cut apart and have your students put up around the school. Its fun and "gets the word out" to the other students and the administration that you are making people aware of school vocabulary in Spanish. Kids love to put them up. I do this activity every year and its amazing how long the words actually stay up. Education by osmosis. Enjoy!

How many times have you typed this box out for students? Learning verbs? Possessives? Reflexives? A new tense? Pronouns? This is a blank template you can run 1000 copies of and keep on hand for every time you want to introduce material that goes in the 6 box chart. There is room for a few rules, exceptions on the sheet too, so kids have an easy reference. Enjoy!

Proyecto Oral- UN CANTANTE FAMOSO

Students research a famous Latino musical artist and create a powerpoint to present their artist to their classmates. Presentations are around 3-4 minutes in length and work best for a level III class or higher who already has some prior practice speaking in the past tenses. This lesson also works great for Heritage Learner classes who are already conversant in Spanish as a means to gain some practice public speaking with a topic they are comfortable . Download contains requirements of project with guiding questions for students and a long list of famous Latino musicians for students to choose one of interest. Plan at least 2 days of computer lab time and about 6-8 presentations can be seen per day.

These questions accompany the short story CAJAS DE CARTON by Francisco Jimenez. There are T/F statements, general questions and essay prompts for students to complete after reading the story. This activity is best suited for a level IV or higher Spanish class and takes 3-4 days to complete the story and the questions.
