This is KS3 project which combines wood work skills, electronics (soldering skills, circuit, components & colour-coded resistors), 2D design, graphics and product design (a net, packaging and packaging symbols), including homework tasks. It helps students to work individually and as a team, to peer-assess each other’s work, to test & critically evaluate. In addition, it teaches the use of tally charts, bar charts & flow charts.

This KS3 project features a design inspired by bio-mimicry/Natural forms and used a pewter die casting method. In the course of the project students will learn to critically analyse existing products, to understand the role of the bio-mimicry and to adapt it to jewellery design. In addition, they will use CAD/CAM as a part of the manufacturing process, and 2D design to create a presentation for the completed product.

KS3 lesson allows Y7 pupils to understand different wood joints and to model example wood joints, to work in a team in the 'factory' to cut and assemble the longest & most accurate Dovetail joint. The lesson included a range of different short activities (such as modeling cardboard joints, the quiz 'Who wants to be a Millionaire?' and the 'Dovetail Challenge' competition) to reinforce pupils' understanding and the knowledge of wood joints and its use.

This KS3 project involves the design and construction of a face mask inspired by Mayan art. In the course of the project students will learn to understand the difference between Mortice & Tenon joint and comb/finger joint and to adapt them to the mask design. In addition, they will learn and apply Health & Safety rules when using hand tools to cut out the wood joints.
