Britain’s leading educational newspaper, the Times Educational Supplement (TES) was named Business media brand of the year at the PPA Magazines 2008 awards for editorial and publishing excellence.

Acknowledging the brand’s huge recognition rate judges described TES as "an extraordinarily strong brand" that is "clearly at the heart of its community".

Published by TSL Education, TES has continued to significantly extend its brand through its new TES Prime recruitment consultancy and development of its print, web and exhibition platforms following the successful relaunch of its weekly print edition in November 2006.

The market-leading weekly targets half a million education professionals and, since relaunching, has seen a 91 per cent increase in paid subscriptions and a year-on-year increase in advertising revenue of 25 per cent.

The TES portfolio also produces three market-leading exhibitions, while the TES website provides users with a multitude of teaching resources and includes, at its height, details of over 13,000 jobs online. www.tes.co.uk is currently ranked No. 4 Education reference website by online competitive intelligence service, Hitwise.

Often referred to as the publishing industry's 'Oscars', The PPA Magazines 2008 awards for editorial and publishing excellence recognise and reward the highest standards in all aspects of magazine publishing.

The awards, judged across 22 categories, represent a unique opportunity to gain industry recognition for the outstanding achievements of a publication or individual during the past 12 months.

The winners were announced at a gala awards ceremony on Wednesday 7 May at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
