Functional Skills Maths - Entry Level 1 - Shape, Position, Direction

This resource has been designed for students working towards Functional Skills Maths qualifications at Entry Level 1. It contains an age-appropriate, 32-page workbook and a 120-slide PowerPoint lesson on outcomes 9 and 10 of the ‘Using Common Measures Shape and Space’ component.

The resources will help pupils to achieve these outcomes:

Identify and recognise common 2-D and 3-D shapes including circle, cube
rectangle, square and triangle
Use everyday positional vocabulary to describe position and direction including
left, right, in front, behind, under and above

Workbook

The 32-page workbook includes five information/explanation sheets, 22 worksheets (with answers), 3 progress checks and a certificate of achievement. The resource is available in PDF format and an editable PowerPoint version to enable personalisation of the resource. The workbook can be used for classwork, homework, revision or as an independent learning pack.

PowerPoint Lesson

The PowerPoint lesson is fully editable and provides many opportunities for the pupils to identify the required shapes. It will also help pupils to understand and use positional language.
