Rocket Says Clean Up - by Nathan Bryon

A collection of 15 activities designed to accompany a book study on Nathan Bryon’s Rocket Says Clean Up. This unit is perfect if you are looking to study books which have more representative and culturally diverse main characters. I will be following this unit up soon with another couple of linked units of work on two inspirational women who would be perfect to study for Black History Month: Imani Wilmot (Jamaican female surfer) and a unit of work on MaVynee Betsch (aka The Beach Lady) whose grandfather founded American Beach, and who campaigned tirelessly for conservation efforts. Featuring a variety of reading and whole story activities, word-level activities, and text writing activities, as detailed below: Section 1: Prediction Adult Instructions Prediction Sheet Section 2: Sequence Differentiated Sequencing Sheets (8, 6 and 4 parts) Section 3: Reading Comprehension Differentiated Reading Comprehension (written and tick the box) Section 4: True or False True or False Activity Section 5: Rocket Character Profile Character Profile Sheet Section 6: Character Traits Antonyms with Prefixes and Suffixes Section 7: Spelling Dictation Frequently misspelled words dictation (differentiated) Section 8: Alphabetic Order Differentiated alphabetical ordering Section 9: Syllables Syllable Clap and Count Syllable Cube Count Section 10: Vocabulary Draw and write the meaning activity Section 11: Cause and Effect Picture clue and write a sentence about the effect Section 12: Retell Lined, bordered paper for retelling Section 13: Postcard Home Postcard template Section 14: Keep It Clean Poster Poster template Section 15: Newspaper Report Newspaper template Please note, this unit is not inclusive of planning, nor does it include the book. Sound Button Fonts for Phonics
Education_Learning_and_WorkEducation_Learning_and_Work

Sound Button Fonts for Phonics

(0)
This pair of fonts (Soundbuttondots & Soundbuttondashes) allow you to add dots or dashes to your writing to represent sound buttons underneath single sounds, digraphs and trigraphs. There are even special characters included to replicate the sound buttons needed to show the connection between split digraphs. Full disclosure - this is not a perfect ‘does the job for you without you having to think’ kind of font. I don’t have the technology to make the fonts do ligatures and automatically underline digraphs and trigraphs, but I have tried to make it as seamless and easy as I can. By switching between the two fonts, you can choose which letters have dots underneath and which have dashes (the spacing on the dashed letters is already condensed so the dashes form a continuous line), and you can insert special characters (or use the corresponding symbols) to add arrows for split digraphs. WATCH THE VIDEO TO SEE HOW, plus full written instructions included in the pack. To my mind, this font certainly beats printing out a regular copy of work and manually adding all the sound buttons in a black pen, or trying to add dot and dash clipart underneath! We’ve all been there!
Phase 4 Phonics Comprehensions - UPDATED AGAIN - 12 Texts

Phase 4 Phonics Comprehensions - UPDATED AGAIN - 12 Texts

(0)
I created this resource after searching for (and failing to find) something similar to suit my own UK learners. The original bundle of just 6 texts has now grown for a second time to 12 texts. I think it’s now finalised, but it still could grown again if I get struck by inspiration. All progression / structure within the document is taken from UK Government Publication “Letters and Sounds”, which organises children’s exposure to new phonemes in Phases and Sets. The document here follows this as closely as possible. Great to stretch and challenge children in Reception who have a solid application of their phonics and / or for children in Year 1 and 2 who still need to practise accessing fully decodable texts. Suits Ofsted’s renewed focus on children reading full decodable texts, matched to phonics knowledge. If you download and use this resource, I’d love it if you could take the time to leave a review.

Phase 5 Letters and Sounds Phonics Comprehension - BUNDLE 29 texts

(1)
I created this resource after searching for (and failing to find) something similar to suit my own UK learners. The current bundle is for 29 texts, but this is not the complete set yet. If you buy now at this price, all future updates can be re-downloaded for free within your license price. The texts have coverage for: ‘ay’ saying /ai/ ‘oy’ saying /oi/ ‘ie’ saying /igh/ ‘ea’ saying /ee/ ‘a_e’ saying /ai/ ‘e_e’ saying /ee/ ‘i_e’ saying /igh/ ‘o_e’ saying /oa/ ‘u_e’ saying /oo/ or /yoo/ ‘ou’ saying /ow/ long vowels a, e, i o u ‘ue’ saying /oo/ or /yoo/ ‘ew’ saying /oo/ or /yoo/ ‘aw’ saying /or/ ‘au’ saying /or/ ‘ow’ saying /oa/ ‘oe’ saying /oa/ ‘wh’ saying /w/ ‘ph’ saying /f/ ‘c’ saying /s/ & ‘g’ saying /j/ ‘ea’ saying /e/ ‘ie’ saying /ee/ ‘ch’ saying /sh/ & /c/ ‘y’ saying /ee/ ‘tch’ saying /ch/ ‘ear’ and ‘are’ saying /air/ unspoken ‘e’ ‘ore’ saying /or/ All progression / structure within the document is taken from UK Government Publication “Letters and Sounds”, which organises children’s exposure to new phonemes in Phases and Sets, and also ventures into some of the National Curriculum Spelling Patterns. The order of sounds within this document is designed to be progressive, such that one text builds on the next. Although these materials are independent and unendorsed, they could easily be used to support learners on many validated schemes which use Letters and Sounds as their basis, such as Little Wandle or similar. Great to stretch and challenge children in Year 1 who have a solid application of their phonics and / or for children in Year 2 and 3 who still need to practise accessing fully decodable texts. Suits Ofsted’s renewed focus on children reading full decodable texts, matched to phonics knowledge. If you download and use this resource, I’d love it if you could take the time to leave a review.

Hearts & Stars Digital Sticker Bundle: Google Classroom, SeeSaw, Distance Learning

4 Resources
Children love receiving stickers and we love giving them out, right? So what do we do when all our work is being set electronically? These cute, bright e-stickers can be added to Google Slides, Google Docs, SeeSaw and many more. You could even just add them as attachments in your messages over email when communicating with your class. Each filled with a colour washed rainbow background and motivational or correctional phrases, they’re the perfect solution to dishing out some positivity and prompting. This pack combines the following products, which are also each available individually if you prefer to check in my store. Included in this pack are all of the stickers above, each saved as high quality PNG images (re-sizeable as needed), plus all images saved within a PPT for opening in Google Slides. I have also included a brief tutorial of how to add the stickers, although there are many tutorials out there and I’m sure some of you that have been using e-learning for a while are already pros at this! Please consider leaving a review or rating - I would really appreciate it! Please note: these images are for individual use only, solely in the format of stickers. They are not for re-purposing as clipart or any other saleable product.

A quick, simple survey which you can conduct with your class in order to understand who has access to certain devices. A useful tool for any E-Safety or Computing Leaders to understand what kinds of exposure to devices children have. Also great in the current climate of uncertainty (coronavirus / COVID-19 isolation, school closures) for deciding whether to press ahead with online-only learning, or home based tasks which can be set via different technology mediums.

Handwashing Song Freebie

(0)
This is just a bit of light-hearted fun during what is a pretty anxious time for kids (and adults)! Coronavirus / COVID-19 can seem really scary to little ones but it’s good to know that even basic handwashing can really help. This song reminds children about some of the things they should and shouldn’t do when washing their hands. The last verse in particular…well, we all know those little ones who are sent to wash their hands and are then immediately putting those clean hands somewhere they shouldn’t be! Bless!
