Hip hop language techniques lesson for English KS3. These resources are designed for an extra curricular club that helps to engage students in lyrics and therefore poetry. In this lesson we explore how language techniques in lyrics can engage listeners/audiences, and discuss what effects they can have, including the use of adjectives, verbs, similes and so on.
Could be used for before/lunchtime/after school clubs or edited to be used for lessons on poetry and figurative language.

Robin Hood Tree / Sycamore Gap Tree - An easy to use reading comprehension pack with three sections of differentiated questions. This activity focuses on the history of the tree, its importance to local people and the depth of feeling its destruction inspired. It can be used in form time as part of literacy focus, or in an English lesson for KS3/4 GCSE comprehension training.
It is interesting, useful, very easy to use and good way to combine Citizenship and English.

Henry V and Richard III William Shakespeare lesson that explores the characters of Henry and Richard as kings and heroes or villains for KS3 students. We explore how Richard may be seen by his audiences as a villain and why he is the protagonist of Richard III despite not being a hero. We explore kingly qualities in the Elizabethan era as well.

A detailed 4 page reading comprehension pack, all about the rise of cosmetic and plastic surgery amongst young people, what this tells us about their self-esteem and the safety aspects they need to watch out for if ever considering this.
The questions have three levels of differentiation and focus both on comprehension and language.
