A fun maths activity to practice symmetry by drawing and colouring these Christmas images. This fun activity includes 5 Christmas images, each with three levels of difficulty. Difficulty Level 1 - has the completed drawing with the line of symmetry down the middle and the children are asked to colour the image symmetrically. Difficulty Level 2 - has half of the image on one side , with the other half partially drawn. The children have to complete the drawing and colour in symmetrically. Difficulty Level 3 - has just half the image drawn and the children need to complete and colour the other half symmetrically. A poetry workshop for upper KS2. Here is an opportunity for you to have a real poet in your classroom . In this resource package David Horner, children’s poet in residence here at Goodeyedeers, shares with you a typical session he did when he was working in schools across the country and abroad. A comprehensive set of notes set out in detail how David would have organised a typical visit to school. In this entertaining and creative game players meet – or possibly re-meet - Hetti, a smart and friendly alien living on the far off planet of SPaG. The game is wholly about teaching, rather than testing the Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar demands for Y2 children as set out in the most recent National Curriculum for English. The PowerPoint presentation leads the children, step by step, through the game. It also includes an embedded video introducing the children to Hetti. The Teachers’ Notes give more instructions for playing the game and suggested follow up activities. The precise elements the game covers are: subordination expanded noun phrases the progressive form of verbs commas to separate items in a list apostrophes to mark letters missing in spelling. The game also revisits much of the punctuation demands and the terminology introduced in Y1. It can be played more than once, either by small groups of 5 or more, or by a whole class.
