Please read the Terms of Use carefully. 99 beginner Italian words & phrases with 99 matching English vocabulary cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment, ideal for beginner KS3 Italian learners, and a great revision resource for students entering into KS4 Italian. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their beginner Italian vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The game cards and accompanying Recall & Write activities have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling. It doesn’t matter if any of the words or phrases don’t feature in your medium or even longer-term learning plan: this is a great way of encouraging your students to engage with new language, and to build their vocabulary at the same time. The vocabulary groups are as follows: Saluti : I giorni della settimana : I mesi dell’anno : I numeri da 0 a 20 La mia famiglia : Le parole comuni : Italiano in classe : Domande e risposte Students can work independently of the teacher, challenging themselves and each other in their best Italian accent to find all the matching words & phrases cards in Italian and English. The card templates allow students to apply their Italian knowledge practically and creatively, as they put together mini-quiz cards for each other, preferably from memory. Creating new language is an essential element of successful language learning, so this is a key part of the overall activity, and it’s really popular with my students. The Reference, Recall & Write book has 18 pages. It includes an alphabetical Italian-English reference list of all 99 words & phrases. There are three recall challenges: Written Recall Challenge One students write the English word or phrase from an Italian prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Two with this challenge, students write the words or phrases in Italian from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Three the final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from Italian to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category. This challenges the memory more than when the vocabulary is in the order learners first learn it in, with the additional challenge of moving between the two languages. MOLTE GRAZIE E BUON APPRENDIMENTO!

This kind of classroom decor provides a real learning opportunity in geography class, and this set is also a great visual prompt when you are discussing world geography in general, and Africa in particular. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters help students develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Africa and its geography. It's useful to show students a clear map of Africa, so that students can visualise the location of each country and capital city, not only as an individual location with Africa, but also as a location in relation to other African countries and capital cities. There are two formats to choose from - Africa map background or plain without frame. I laminate my classroom learning decor, even though it's extra prep time and expense. The posters display better, as flashcards they're a lot easier to manipulate, and they do remain in excellent condition for years, so you'll be able to recycle them many times. The posters work just as well in the world languages classroom as well as the geography classroom, aligning learning between language and knowledge of the world. Word searches are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practising and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on Numbers 0-100 in English, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - enabling learners to engage with the target vocabulary, but also aligning with cross-curricular learning - working on reading, writing, spelling, numeracy and language skills in generaL. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. As they move through the grids, their language skills are challenged in a range of ways - from straightforward vocabulary searching, to gap-fill, scrambled letters and sentence questions, which feature mathematical language in English and more complex linguistic structures. Hyphens are really important in English numbers, and the grids feature these quite clearly, in order to ensure that learners can practise this aspect of language. There are two formats to choose from - the search grids and answer keys as separate worksheets, and also a file with both grids and answer keys together, so that you can print each grid and key double-sided, according to which suits your classroom needs better. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. An ideal introduction to Europe, helping students develop their awareness of European countries, capital cities and flags. There are 60 countries featured in the quiz. Each country is presented individually with its capital city and flag - as you show the slides, encourage students to shout out the country names as they appear - this tends to aid memory quite considerably - I point out the location of each country on the background map, which helps students situate each country within the continent, and visualizing the location of the countries again aids memory. The presentation is followed by a series of 100 questions. The questions are structured slightly differently to differentiate the challenge a little: some focus on the countries, others on capital cities, and some on flags. Taken together, students will definitely develop a sound locational knowledge of the countries of Europe, their capital cities and flags. The quiz works particularly well with several teams - encourage each team to choose a***European-themed team game***. Teams can either take it in turns to answer a question, but it’s also great fun, and keeps up a lively pace, to play as a Shout it out! quiz - whoever shouts out the correct answer first wins the point. The quiz works really well across the entire school year, and not just in geography or social science lessons - it’s really popular in form time too!. The presentation moves on with a click. Each question slide is followed by the relevant answer slide - simply click, and it appears! The resource cannot be edited due to copyright and licensing restrictions of the fonts and clipart. Please note this is the Geography World Continents Europe Presentation & Quiz version of my European Day of Languages Europe Presentation & Quiz - please ensure you have not already purchased the European Day of Languages version. An instant introduction to the scope of the Francophone world, promoting French as a living language, spoken widely across the world, and featuring in the everyday life of the learning environment. The banners feature ***41 countries / territories where French is an official languag***e as well as regions and territories where a significant number of the population speak French as either their first or second language, such as Vietnam. Each banner shows the country and capital city in French, and its national flag. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the banners definitely help them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of the French-speaking world. I’ve used the definite article, as I’ve found that this helps embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too. I use the banners to get students talking in French class too during Talk Time for example - quick questions such as Vrai ou faux ? Québec est la capitale du Canada ? or Libreville est la capitale de quel pays ? are really useful to encouraging students to speak in French. Each individual banner has a small tag which I use to hang with a clip from a ‘washing line’ across the classroom and other learning areas. I always laminate my classroom decor banners, as they display more successfully, and remain in excellent condition for years, so it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense. FRENCH CITIES WORD SEARCHES

(0)
FRENCH CITIES 5 DIFFERENTIATED WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEY AND GRID TEMPLATES I use these word searches as a way of introducing the geography and cities of France to my students, as well as to give them opportunity to practice their beginning French skills - they’re differentiated, and multi-skill. The grid template allows them to apply their French very practically, as they create grids for each other - I always encourage my students to explore France a little more, and find other cities and towns too. When I create word searches, I always create corresponding answer keys - for me, they’re an integral part of the learning activity, helping students develop independence in their learning, and offering further opportunity to engage with language. There’s a reference sheet of all cities included in the searches, which you can share between small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as an all-year-round reference. Use as starters, refreshers, plenaries, sub/cover lessons, pick-me-ups or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when you’re discussing the geography of France. GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES

(1)
GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES - FIVE DIFFERENTIATED GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEYS AND GRID TEMPLATE - PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING GERMAN LANGUAGE SKILLS AND DISCOVERING MAJOR CITIES IN GERMANY Word searches are great for encouraging students to engage with the written word in German - they refresh and reinforce language as they complete each grid. Students get a really good introduction to, and overview of, the geography of Germany and a range of major German cities in a slightly different way. We talk about other cities and towns students may know or discover too. With this set, each grid increases in challenge, and students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key. I always give my students answer keys for these types of activity - it’s an additional opportunity to engage with language, it helps them develop more independence in their learning, and they genuinely enjoy ‘correcting’ their own and especially each others’ work. The templates help students apply their knowledge of language more creatively and practically - and they can include cities they discover too. The reference sheet works well as a long-term reference resource, not just for these particular word searches. I use word searches in a range of contexts, not only when we’re looking specifically at the focus language - they’re great for starters, for free-choice activities, for sub lessons and so on. SPANISH PRETERITE TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

(0)
GCSE SPANISH KS3 SPANISH KS4 SPANISH PRETERITE TENSE SPANISH CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency Spanish verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced KS3 Spanish & beginner KS4 Spanish students who feel comfortable working with longer and more complex texts, which include a range of tenses. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. Language learners tend to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the grammar of the language they are learning. For example, students with English as a first language frequently confuse the preterite tense with the imperfect tense when they are conjugating them, as well as when and how to use either tense. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Spanish-English and English-Spanish, useful for longer-term reference too Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Spanish across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Spanish, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in Spanish. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Spanish verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from a Spanish prompt. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the perfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the present tense - there are verbs that require either haben or sein, so the focus on the auxiliary sein with this workbook helps to embed this concept, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations will certainly help to embed that successfully. The format is as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: = Quick Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. = Quick Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. This set of Spanish conversation starters features 100 starters in question format, suitable for KS3 Spanish to KS4 Spanish students. Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning. The questions focus largely on the present tense, with some examples of tenses such as preterite and conditional. I like to include tenses we may not have formally covered, as the activity is not solely about practising language, but also about actively learning it. I encourage students to look for cues and clues in the questions themselves, and this certainly enables them to engage with new or unknown language successfully, and to progress in their learning. Questions formats are varied, to ensure maximum opportunity to work with the different ways to ask questions in Spanish. Some questions seek to elicit very similar information, but are asked in different language: this avoids learners simply parroting learned responses to fixed prompts. I remind students that it is not necessary to tell the truth - the purpose is to create and produce accurate and realistic language. Students can prepare their responses in as much detail as possible on the accompanying planning sheet, remembering that these are conversation starters, so that once they have responded, they should then say something to keep the conversation going. The starters broadly address the following themes: personal information family & routines at home hobbies & free time likes & dislikes local environment food & drink school & studies sport & healthy living countries & languages weather & seasons There is a companion translation activity too, as well as a special offer mini-bundle: SPANISH CONVERSATION TRANSLATION WORKSHEETS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-conversation-translation-worksheets-1-12999437 SPANISH CONVERSATION STARTERS & TRANSLATION WORKSHEETS MINI-BUNDLE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-conversation-starters-and-translation-1-12999527 ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

The questions range in complexity and content. As students become more confident and competent, they begin to rely less on the prompt cards, and answer questions in their own way - and even ask them differently too, if their talk partner is using the answer card as the main prompt. Each flashcards / poster shows the continent, country and capital city in French, and its national flag. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the word wall definitely helps them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Les pays francophones - students are often genuinely amazed at the scope of the French-speaking world - French is spoken on every continent! I’ve used the definite article, as I’ve found that this helps embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too. The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or plain, so 80 flashcards / posters in total. I always print on card stock and / or laminate my flashcards / posters, as they display much more effectively, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and remain in excellent condition for years. Students can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image. The worksheet is useful for consolidating both vegetables vocabulary and spelling in French, and students really enjoy testing their recall. This kind of worksheet is really versatile: I use for cover lessons, as starters, plenaries, five-minute refreshers and home learning activities. There are two versions to choose from - colour, which makes the worksheet really visually appealing, or BW, which saves prep expense, and is also a popular activity with younger students, who like to colour as they read aloud, write and practise their French vegetables. The vegetables are: the artichoke the asparagus the aubergine the beetroot the broccoli the cabbage the carrots the cauliflower the garlic the leek the lettuce the mushrooms the onions the peas the pepper the potatoes the spinach the sweetcorn the tomato Students like to have this French fruits visual vocabulary list freebie too, which is great for practising reading and checking spelling in French: FRENCH FRUITS VISUAL VOCABULARY LIST FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-vegetables-visual-vocabulary-list-freebie-12854102 Have a browse in my store for more French super simple worksheets, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with French resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN GERMAN IDIOMS German Speaking Practice Encouraging students to speak can be quite challenging in the languages classroom, and I’ve found that even my more advanced learners can be quite reluctant, especially if the group is fairly large. I use a range of strategies to promote speaking, and idioms, proverbs and fun expressions which sound quite strange when translated literally are really popular - for example, we have regular competitions to see who can get the most idioms or expressions into dialogues and conversations. This works really well for students of all stages and ages. The posters show the literal translation, which generally sounds very odd, such as this particular idiom Das ist mir Wurst - That is sausage to me! and the correct corresponding translation. We also discuss other possible translations into English, which helps them understand the concept of translation, and that there are potentially many correct ways of expressing meaning accurately. The posters also lend the learning environment a real German ambiance, promoting the everyday use of German. There are two backgrounds - the German flag looks great, but definitely uses a lot of ink, so you may prefer the poster without a background - this looks just as good! Keep checking back for more posters if you like them, as I have a huge collection!
