The Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. They cover: Learning Outcome 4: LO 4: Understand causes of policy change AC 4.3 Discuss how campaigns affect policy development I have included a power point lesson which gets students to reflect on the campaigns for change they covered in Unit 1. This helped my students to tackle this section better as they then understood how this fitted in with causes of policy change (e.g. Stephen Lawrence and the abolishment of the double jeopardy rule). I had a really good class discussion about this section and we highlighted how the government is often very reactive to incidents rather than proactive. My students were saddened that tragedies such as this had to happen before the government did anything about it. I have also included an activity sheet and some typical exam questions for this section.

Criminology (NEW SPEC)Unit 2 EXAM UNIT- Criminological Theories-AC4.2 Lesson

The Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. They cover: Learning Outcome 4: LO 4: Understand causes of policy change AC4.2 Explain how social changes affect policy development This section considers how policy has been influenced by social changes and attitudes in society. There are quite a few topics under this section which could come up in the exam (I discussed a few things with my class to start with early in the lesson). I focus on two main areas in this lesson (same sex relationships and women’s rights) so that they can see how I examine the social change and then the policy development that goes with it. As homework, I set my class the task of researching 4 other topic areas of their own along with the up-skirting activity. Hope this helps.

Criminology Eduqas/WJEC- Level 3 (New Spec)Unit 1 - Campaign for Change Lesson Resources

Attached are a variety of teaching resources that helped me to assist students with their chosen campaign for change. I found that lower ability students really found the plan useful as a scaffolding device to help them set out their own campaign. I have also included the instructions i gave students on putting together their bibliography as some had never written one before. Some students used the person template to design their own t-shirts and wrist bands etc.

I am getting my students to email me portions of it once completed.

These Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. Learning Outcome 2: Understanding the Role of Punishment in a Criminal Justice System Assignment Criteria 2.3: Assess How Forms of Punishment Meet the Aims of Punishment The lesson power point covers the four key types of sentence and how the courts try to meet their aims with those punishments. I have included a booklet for students to follow along with, exam questions for this assignment criteria and an activity on the James Bulger case. The Sentecing Council website has some really great videos on how the courts decide their sentences. They are short and sweet but my students found them to be helpful. I hope you find these resources helpful- particularly if you are new to teaching Criminology. My specialism is Law and Criminology so I also welcome any Law related questions. rachael.s.roberts@hotmail.co.uk I will be putting more resources up for this unit.

Criminology (NEW SPEC)Unit 4 EXAM UNIT- AC1.2 Organisations in the CJS-Lesson & Activities

These Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. Learning Outcome 1: Understanding the Criminal Justice System in England and Wales Assignment Criteria 1.2: Describe the Organisation of the Criminal Justice System in England and Wales I have included a power point that illustrates the relationships between the main agencies within the CJS. I have set this out in mind map format so that students can make the ‘relationship connections’ in a fun way. They can either create their own or use the templates I have provided. I have modelled four of the agencies to demonstrate what they need to do. I have told my students that they need a mind map/flow chart for each agency as an exam question could come up on any one of them. I have also included homework tasks and exam questions. Feel free to message me with any questions as I know that this is a new course! I hope you find these resources helpful- particularly if you are new to teaching Criminology. My specialism is Law and Criminology so I also welcome any Law related questions. rachael.s.roberts@hotmail.co.uk I will be putting more resources up for this unit.

These Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. Learning Outcome 3: Understanding Measures Used in Social Control AC3.4 Evaluate the Effectiveness of Agencies in Achieving Social Control The resources include a lesson power point, follow along student booklet, activities, homework and exam questions. The evaluation part requires higher order thinking skills from students so I have tried to break this down as much as possible so that students feel more confident in tackling longer exam questions. I hope you find these resources helpful- particularly if you are new to teaching Criminology. My specialism is Law and Criminology so I also welcome any Law related questions. rachael.s.roberts@hotmail.co.uk This is the last section in Unit 4 but I will also be putting some end of unit revision materials on TES.

Criminology (NEW SPEC)Unit 4- AC3.1: Role of Agencies in Social Control- Lesson & Activities

(0)
These Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. Learning Outcome 3: Understanding Measures Used in Social Control AC3.1: Explain the Role of Agencies in Social Control The lesson power point covers an introduction to the new learning objective along with activities, tasks and research. The Criminology textbooks focus on facts of the social control agencies (which the students can easily read as homework), therefore I have focused the lesson on HOW social control is achieved by these agencies as this is what is required for the exam (if you look at the sample questions and mark schemes). Therefore, I have made it explicit to the students where/how each agency achieves control. I have covered: The CPS/The Police/The Judiciary/Prison Services. I have tasked students to cover the Probation Service and Charities & Pressure groups within their booklet on their own so they are not completely reliant on me during the lesson and to help keep up engagement. I found it useful to cover a little on the Separation of Powers theory first -particularly when it comes to the Judiciary as this really helps students to understand the evaluation points that come later in the unit. I have attached a SOP lesson on here- if you wish to use it in this or another lesson. I hope you find these resources helpful- particularly if you are new to teaching Criminology. My specialism is Law and Criminology so I also welcome any Law related questions. rachael.s.roberts@hotmail.co.uk I will be putting more resources up for this unit.

History-Ancient Egypt-Project Booklet- (End of term/end of topic fun activity booklet) Ages-10-12

(0)
I have designed an easily printable project booklet on Ancient Egypt. Print this out and staple together for an easy end of term/end of topic project that your students can have lots of fun doing! No teaching required (all the information is self-contained within the booklet so students can find the answers themselves)! Therefore, this would be an ideal lesson if you needed to leave cover work or indeed if you are simply out of teaching energy (end of term can be tough!). Target Students: Key Stage 2 or 3 (I used it for my Y7s) (ages 10-12 yrs). It contains: missing word activities, SPAG exercises, fun facts, comprehension questions and 'draw your own' pages. My students loved it as they took it home to show parents what they had been learning about!

Please find attached resources for a Career Lesson. I delivered this lesson to a class of Y7 pupils who thoroughly enjoyed looking at the example career posters and deciding which career path best suited that particular professional. I allowed the students to work in teams and gave each table a career poster to work with. Please also find attached a ‘help sheet’ for the written task, a mind map and a spelling activity related to careers- can’t beat a bit of SPAG!!

Maths Key Stage 3. Topic: Algebra. 4 worksheets for adding/multiplying algebra and brackets.

(0)
There are 4 worksheets, each looking at algebra in a different way. They are aimed at Key stage 3 maths but could also be used for lower ability sets in key stage 4. Each sheet could be used as a homework, an in class task (roughly 30 minutes) to consolidate learning or put together as a revision booklet. The first sheet involves algebra chains and working out the missing values to move down the chain. The second uses various grids to work on algebra multiplication. The third uses area and perimeter of shapes to work on multiplication and addition of algebra. The final sheet simply has expanding brackets questions on it as well as some helpful diagrams. All four sheets get more difficult the further down them you go.

Criminology (NEW SPEC)Unit 3-AC3.1-Examine Information for Validity-Lesson & Student Booklet

(1)
The Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. They cover: Learning Outcome 3: Be Able to Review Criminal Cases AC3.1-Examine Information for Validity The resources include a lesson power point and a booklet that students can use to take notes in. I have also included a structure sheet with a table that helps students to see how they can set out in section in a logical order. There are case studies for each source and some articles for wider reading that I have also popped onto the power point (and provided the links to). The BBC article is free to access on-line but I have also put this into a Word Document for ease (gives the students something to read and highlight/take home).
