The Philosophy Boxes Method is a new approach to P4C designed for students in KS1, 2 & 3: it is graphically stimulating, engaging, and fun. This download is also suitable for older students: but the format was designed with younger students in mind.
The topic of this Philosophy Boxes download is “Environmental Ethics & Caring for The Environment”.
The aim of Philosophy Boxes is to bring philosophy and critical thinking into every subject at every level: we believe that any subject becomes philosophy when students are asked the right questions and when they think about a topic hard enough and on the deepest (most fundamental) level.
The Philosophy Boxes Method presents students with a set of ‘mystery boxes’, when a student selects one of the boxes they are presented with 1 of 21 discussion/debate activities [that use 1 of 8 different formats].
The presentation has integrated AfL so that teachers can test knowledge at any point in the lesson. There are 10 different AfL slides to choose from.
The design is colourful, animated, fun and engaging: all activities require movement and teachers can decide whether students are expressing their ideas purely verbally or by using post-it notes.
The nature of the design is that it can be used for short sessions (5-10 minutes) or much longer sessions (up to 2 hours!) - it allows for classroom practitioners to be flexible and adaptable. It can, therefore, be used in lessons or as a tutor-time activity.

The topic of this Philosophy Boxes download is ‘Body Changes’. It is one of a series of PSHE-P4C sessions designed for KS2-4 PSHE students. The download comprises a P4C lesson/session that can be used multiple times with the same group.
The Philosophy Boxes Method is a new approach to PSHE designed for students in KS2-4: it is graphically stimulating, engaging, and fun. This download is also suitable for older students: but the format was designed with younger students in mind. In this context: ‘Philosophy Boxes’ represents a more student-centred ‘debate & discussion’ approach to PSHE issues.
The aim of our ‘Philosopy Boxes’ PSHE sessions is to bring deep, critical thinking to PSHE, exploring PSHE using P4C (Philosophy for Children) debates and discussions. One advantage to the method is that it helps students to practice their social skills through the activities.

A professionally designed Christmas quiz for Science teachers to use with their students, featuring 60 well-presented questions and an answer sheet.

The quiz also includes a word-search (on screen) and a couple of anagram rounds.
Fifty of the questions are Christmas-related and not connected to a specific school-subject: the final ten are subject specific and deal either with GCSE terminology, KS4 exam specification contents, or “fun facts”.
Differentiation can easily be achieved by changing quiz group sizes. The quiz is suitable for KS3-5.
Completing and peer-marking the 60-question quiz should take the best part of a 1-hour lesson.
The resource is fully editable.

This bundle contains a Christmas quiz for RE teachers* and a selection of seven Christmassy video-worksheets that can be used with any video (or series of videos) to enhance learning and foster engagement.
*We’ve also included our previous version of the quiz for free, just in case you prefer it!
Together they comprise an easy and fun Christmas lesson (you might wish to shorten the quiz if you wish to do this).
They can also be used individually to constitute multiple Christmas lessons. I am confident you will find the video-learning worksheets especially versatile and useful throughout the month building up to the Christmas break.
The resources are suitable for any age group: the quiz can be differentiated easily by changing team sizes.

This download includes a generic (multi-subject) A3 double-sided DIRT worksheet.
DIRT stands for 'Dedicated Improvement Reflection Time' and the worksheet features a number of activities that encourage students to reflect on their work, their targets and how to improve.
The download also includes a 5-slide, fully-animated, PowerPoint presentation that can be integrated into your teaching materials or used as a session in itself. The Powerpoint features a number of activities for DIRT.
Both files are fully editable so that you can make any alterations or changes you might want to.
The topic of this revision session is: ‘Inequalities in the provision of, and access to, health care in contemporary society’.
It is designed for teachers using the new AQA Sociology specification at KS5. Save significant amounts of money by buying these revision sessions in bundles!
This download contains one of a series of revision sessions that use a variety of mind-mapping, discussion and debate tasks to cover a section of the specification. It includes a fully animated revision session PowerPoint and a set of ‘silent debate’ A3 worksheets [which are a great way to structure group discussions and practice exam planning technique].
This revision session features:
-A ‘grid of learning’ post-it task (to focus students on the day’s topic and refresh their memories of the basics)
-A 'competitive mind-mapping task (which can be completed on the whiteboard or on A3 paper)
-A silent debate task (with 6 x A3 silent debate worksheets in an editable .doc file) [nb. allowing group conversation, instead of silence, is also an effective approach]
-Debates that ask students to move from one side of the room or the other and verbalise a defence of their position in response to a statement or rubric.
-A concluding ‘One thing I am still uncertain about…’ post-it question.
The revision sessions can be used in a number of ways:
-As revision sessions during a revision period of term-time leading up to exams
-Sandwiched between lessons as they are taught throughout the year as a way of solidifying and assessing learning

This download contains an editable 50+ slide PowerPoint featuring the most important debates relevant to GCSE Science students. It also contains a ‘randomiser’ slide so that debate topics can be selected randomly.
Debate topics refer to GCSE specifications as much as possible, as well as more general P4C and ‘Philosophy of Science’ ones.
Debates take an ‘agree or disagree’ format: students are asked to move from one side of the room to the other depending on their response to the statements that appear.
This format allows teachers to foster debates and discussions between students, it can be helpful to ask students to justify their reasons and use sensible arguments. Questions you might ask include:
“What is wrong with the other position in your view?”,
“Why did you choose to stand where you’re standing?”,
“Why do you think people disagree so much about this question?”
It is best to encourage students to pick a side rather than float in the middle: but it can also be fun to allow students to change side as the debate progresses, so that students can try to persuade one another to move.
This is a great resource to use at the end of lessons if you have a few minutes left, it can be used as an entire lesson or revision session.
