Hamlet Lesson 1 - AQA Crime A Level

Introduces students to the opening scene and encourages students to think about thematic ideas such as revenge/Heaven and Hell/death. You will need a copy of scene 1 (or the students’ texts) for this lesson and three versions of the play (you can choose - I used the Olivier, Branagh and Tennant).

Example Answer for Literature A Level - Desdemona

A blank (unnanoted) example answer to the question ** “Desdemona suffers a tragic end because she is a woman.” To what extent do you agree with this view? (25) ** I have also included a mark scheme at the bottom, which you can use with students. Would be useful for AQA Spec A and B. You could cut up and encourage students to order or highlight for the AO’s (shown at the bottom). Written at an accessible level by expert examiner.

I hope you find these useful and they are easy to mark with any existing AQA mark scheme for Paper 1 however if you would like me to write you a bespoke mark scheme (perhaps if teaching for first time) or even some model answers at specific grades please feel free to email me at lsirr1986@gmail.com I am also happy to make resources and model answers on request on any A Level Language, Literature or Lit/Lang combined module as I teach all three and examine also. I would like to be able to support other teachers to deliver high quality materials at this challenging time.

Very useful for A Level or undergraduate literature. I hope you enjoy using this. You could potentially use it as a short project, assign a different literary genre and students make their own (good transition from A Level to HE)

I sat a full timed paper (I am a lead examiner) for the specimen paper for Edexcel which I attach here - it was done in timed conditions, unseen. You could use this as example answers once the students have sat a paper or cut them up for students to analyse more closely. I hope it is useful for you! If you would like any more like this creating for any paper of your choice please don’t hesitate to pop a request in the comments. Can do lit, lang or combined up to A Level. :-)

Written in real time - the question is useful for AQA Specification A (Love) or B (tragedy). Spend some time planning with the template provided, then you could use this as guided writing or guided marking. The question is: “All women in “Othello” are tragic, innocent victims who evoke pity”. How far do you agree? It has been written by an experienced teacher and examiner (me) in the style of an A Level student so it is challenging but realistic.

A really useful revision lesson with all questions as well as a model Q4 scanned in for analysis. Works well for a middle ability group but could very easily be adapted up or down. There are sections in the lesson throughout for you to use a visualiser to broadcast either your own, or a student’s answer.
