Life in Nazi Germany Revision Tarsia Puzzle

This Tarsia puzzle covers the theme of the Life in Nazi Germany. It was specifically designed for GCSE revision and would be suitable for many of the exam boards. Great for revision and intervention sessions. A Tarsia puzzle requires students to match up sides of triangles to form a hexagonal shape. They are brilliant for revision and get students to think hard. I use these at the starts of ends of lessons and they can take 10-20 minutes depending on your class's confidence in the material. All materials are provided here including student instructions, student puzzle pieces and teacher answers. All images have been acquired through a search engine filtered to labelled for re-use. Medicine Through Time - How use is this source type questions - Q3 of Edexcel 2013

(1)
My students get really worried when looking at "how useful is this source" type questions of the Edexcel medicine paper. This is currently Q3 of the 2013 onwards paper. This lesson seeks to build up their understanding of how to explain a source's usefulness. This lesson contains two example questions, some sentence starters to develop structure and most of a model answer. Students can then be set an example for homework. This lesson could be supported by pages 30-31 of the new edition of the Edexcel endorsed textbook (2013 edition). Comments are appreciated :-)

What made 9/11 so shocking?

There aren’t many September 11th lessons out there so here’s one! Now updated to include newer sliders and embedded clip. The main objective is for students to gauge how ‘complete’ a BBC news clip is. The PowerPoint includes task descriptions but please ask if you can’t follow the lesson. The bottom of the posters should be folded up so that you can reveal the answers! You choose the plenary. If you know of a short clip which was produced a little after the event that would be useful. Any comments are appreciated! :-) Images acquired through a search engine filtered to “labelled for reuse” BBC own the copyright to the clip in the link. I’ve been observed in this lesson and graded as outstanding so hopefully this works for you too. (911, 9-11)

This is a KS3 assessment planned for Y8 students. Students are presented with two sources and they are expected to draw out similarities and differences in order to assess how far the sources agree. Excellent preparation for GCSE and beyond! Video clips are built in, so that students can recap knowledge. This should take place after contextual lessons about the Suffragettes and Suffragists. Has that pile of books been sitting on your desk for over a week? Why not print out some stickers and get sticking! I use a range of stickers to encourage student feedback. It’s an excellent way to save some time but also encourage a dialogue. Credit to A. Wilkes for inspiration. You will require various label size papers but there are some standard envelope ones. Sticker sizes include: standard address label, 25x25, 64x64 and others. Comments are appreciated. This paper can be purchased online and put into any printer. Comments are appreciated. Christmas Through Time Activity Booklet: Bumper Pack.

It’s always nice to give your students something Christmassy to work towards as it gets closer. I’ve updated this resource due to it’s popularity. This 10 page booklet can be printed in colour or black and white. Students can work through the different activities suggested in one go or once a week. I’ve used these resources with different ages but it would work best for lower secondary or primary school. The resources tell the Christmas story, look into traditions today and explore how Christmas was celebrated in the Tudor and Medieval period. The additional Powerpoint may also be used for other activities. Comments are appreciated. Images acquired through a search engine filtered to labelled for reuse.

(0)
This lesson focuses on Edward VI’s reign. In particular it explores fall of Somerset. In doing so, students start to explore the differences between Somerset and Northumberland. It has been planned for the AQA History A-level 1C which explores the Tudors: England, 1485-1603. It could easily be adapted to suit any of the A-level specifications. The resources are designed for one lesson lasting one hour. My students all have their own copies of Tillbrook’s The Tudors: England 1485-1603 by Oxford University Press, this is sometimes referred to. All images have been acquired through a search engine filtered to labelled for re-use. All resources have been taught to my own classes.
