PE Wet Weather/ Cover/ Theory Lesson Booklets for KS3 & KS4 mirroring the GCSE PE Specification - YEAR 7 BOOKLET & POWERPOINT ONLY - See my shops for the Year 8 & 9 Booklets and PowerPoints. Due to not being able to do any practical lessons for the first term because of COVID guidance and PE regulations, I have created these 3 booklets for Years 7,8 &9 to do within our Core PE lessons. The content of the booklets follow the GCSE PE Specification and is a great way to get the students involved in Anatomy and Physiology/ Movement Analysis etc… The booklets also follow the HPL (High Performance Learning) Initiative, with all of the icons included within the booklet. To make life even easier, I have created PowerPoints that work side by side with the booklet so you are ready to go! Please see my shop listings for the other years booklets. The contents for the booklets are as follows; **Year 7 - Health & Wellbeing/ Calories Counting Activity/ The Skeleton/ Joints/ Muscles/ Basic Movements. (PowerPoint to run in line with all of these topics) ** Year 8 - The Mechanics of Breathing/ Aerobic & Anaerobic Respiration/ Gaseous Exchange/ The Heart/ Blood Vessels/ Drugs & Steroids. (PowerPoint to run in line with all of these topics) Year 9 - The Skeleton/ Joints/ Muscles/ Basic Movements/ Planes & Axes/ Levers/ The Mechanics of Breathing/ Aerobic & Anaerobic Respiration/ Gaseous Exchange/ The Heart. (PowerPoint to run in line with all of these topics) These are an exceptional resource to have in the bank if you ever have wet weather lessons or cover lessons. Additionally, it gets the students to think more academically when coming across scientific terminology. Building this into the KS3 curriculum was the best thing we ever did as it has not set all of the students up to be potential candidates on the GCSE PE course.

Teaching them a combination of the GCSE PE Specification (PowerPoint 1 above), Cambridge National Sports Studies and practical lessons based on one sport. At the end of the term, all of the students will sit an exam. From this and the evidence of their performance in all of the other lessons, we then advise which qualification is best suited to them; Cambridge National Sports Studies of AQA GCSE PE. This is perfect if you have just started teaching GCSE PE or if you want a completely fresh set of resources. Additionally, this will save you time making them all from the beginning. All of the PowerPoints are consistent with one another, as well as fresh and clean cut. The way I build my PowerPoints is to ensure the individual topics are simple for students to understand, but also include a more rounded curriculum. All PowerPoints include some kind of questioning/ feedback, mostly examination style questioning. I have also included GIF’s and videos within my PowerPoints to give the learning experience a more enjoyable edge. I like to use interleving starters to test the students prior knowledge and understanding.

GCSE/ BTEC Component of Fitness Picturegrams (Starters)

Here i have a picturegram across 3 pages for the 11 components of fitness (Physical and Health Related). Students have to work out what each of the pictures are to form a component of fitness. Example below: Example of pictures: Air / Rowing Machine / Bic Pen + Engine / Duracell / Ants = Aerobic Endurance Ballet Dancers / Lance Armstrong = Balance I use these for my year 11’s as starters, they work really well with BTEC of GCSE students. Nice practical starter. I would give the students 3 minutes to work them out by themselves, 2 minutes with a partner, then 2 minutes to share with the whole room. They must answer all of the picturegrams before the students sit down in their seat.

BTEC/GCSE - Revision Spider Diagram (Components of Fitness/ Fitness Testing/ Principles of Training)

I am a Secondary School teacher and created this document for my Year 11 students to take away and use to revise for their exam. This was for the old BTEC Unit 1 Exam, which was mainly focussing on Fitness and Sport Exercise, so covers the following topics; Components of Fitness, Fitness Tests, Training Methods, Basic Principles of Training and Additional Principles of Training, Measuring Heart Rate, RPE (BORG) Scale & Caluclating Maximum Heart Rate + Training Zones. This also came in useful for GCSE groups within the school as some of the content overlapped the BTEC Specification.
