Resource; Expanding Brackets – Bigger Picture. Pre Assessment – pupils to demonstrate how much they can remember on the side of “what they should know”. Post Assessment – after pupils have been introduced to the new concept they then sit a quick assessment of a couple of questions to show they understand how to solve equations. Mastery post assessment – pupils demonstrate they have mastered the topics they have been taught confidently without any support. They have mastered the topic not necessarily through problem solving but through showing confidence in fluency questions without support. I wanted to see if pupils really understood collecting like terms and forming expressions. Activity based around using as a worksheet or MWB task so that you can clearly see the answers of all pupils. Really effective and pupils understand task perfectly. Has been used with Ks3 and Ks4 classes.

Aimed at KS2/KS3. Hands on resources to get pupils understanding units of measurement and discussing fractions or multiplication tables. Has been used for open evening task also. Mini whiteboard task used as a pre assessment to see where pupils misconceptions are.
