This is a PowerPoint that I used with a mixed ability Year 7 group. This could also be used with a year 6 group in Primary. This lesson analyses the poetic techniques used withing Singh Song. The lesson focuses on word play, tone and the context of the poet amongst others. It also asks students to take ownership and analyse the poem and asks students several questions throughout.

This is the first of 24 lessons on the scheme of work I have created. This gives students knowledge of the context by finding information on ‘The Great Depression’ and what life was like during this time. The lesson starts with a ‘Do Now’ for students to test their prior knowledge on words that will relate to context. The lesson then has a think-pair-share task before answering a series of questions from videos (links in PowerPoint). This is a detailed lesson plan for a KS3 class. This particular class is primarily focusing on AFOREST and how it can be used within a Room 101 presentation. This particular lesson plan was used for an interview lesson. The plan has a ‘Do Now’. guidelines on teacher input, assessment, individual practice and also a plenary with notes to the side. This lesson plan is just a guide, it does not include resources (PowerPoint, exercises) and it is a ‘Read Only’ document.

This is a comprehensive overview of a scheme of work I created as Head of English. This links to the specific reading and writing strands from the National Curriculum. Each half termly topic for Year 7-9 links to the learning outcomes which are in individual tables. Therefore making it a 64 page word file which is sufficient for any inspection. NB: This is specific to a curriculum I created for the upcoming academic year and my own scheme of work.

This lesson was for a Year 9 class but can be used for any KS3 class for students to think about their future. The lesson is cross-curricular as it asks students to think of their Option Choices for Year 10 and what job they would like to do in the future. This lesson is after another lesson entitled “Who are You?” and is available too as a bundle. The main task is a small article with a comprehension in relation the the question: What would you like to do when you grow up? This PowerPoint lesson is in relation to mainly chapter 3 ‘The Snatch’ but also refers to previous chapters. The main activity within this PowerPoint is where students use their imagination and put themselves in Sophie’s shoes and use the ‘negative feelings’ sheet to help them describe when The BFG took them. It also has a PDF of a ‘Missing’ Poster that students can do in class or for homework.

This lesson explores the marriage of Romeo and Juliet at the end of Act 2 Scene 2. There is an extract exercise included where students explorer the connotations and Juliet’s view on love. Also a paired exercise for Romeo’s and Friar’s contrasting attitudes in Act 2 Scene 3.

Banquo’s Ghost scene is one of the key scenes within Macbeth. This lesson allows students to imagine they are 1) Banquo’s Ghost and 2) The Attendants at the Banquet. This is done by a visual aspect via a video where it allows the students feel as if they are present. They also have to highlight Lady Macbeth’s role in this scene before close analysis of the scene in pairs.

This lesson focuses on the demise of Curley’s Wife in chapter 5. This is primarily a reading lesson of chapter 5 and does have the structure below. Sheets that are used for students to analyze some of Macbeth’s soliloquies in the play. The resource has the soliloquy and poses questions for the students to have an in depth analysis.
