Post-Mock Feedback Sheet (Recording Device or Typing)

This is a very good resource that I gave to my examination students who are using recording devices or typing their examination answers. The questions within the feedback sheet were given after their mocks but can be also used for in-class preparation. The answers will give you knowledge of what the student hopes to focus on so you can plan what improvements need to be targeted.

This PowerPoint and remote learning instructions introduces Haikus in a simple way. It is for remote learning during the lockdown. Students are then asked to watch a YouTube video for the process and then asked to create their own Haiku. The plenary is to create their own ‘Lockdown Haiku’ which can be emailed to you and the chosen winners will be on a format like Padlet.

This PowerPoint is structured with a ‘Do Now’ which recalls students prior knowledge from poetic devices and other questions. It then gives background to the poet before getting students to think about the title and context. The students are then asked to write what the main themes of the poem are. There is a hinge question which leads to a debate as all answers are similar but have minor differences to show what a dramatic monologue is.

This PowerPoint starts with a re-cap on context from Northern Ireland. It then gives students information on the many layers within the poem and also what Longley’s main message is. The students are then asked to answer questions on the poem-these are displayed within the PowerPoint and leads to discussion. Before moving to a diary entry, students are asked to choose a statement. This is to assess the students understanding of the poem before moving forward. The lesson finishes with a plenary to assess students learning. This is lesson two of Longley’s poem Wounds. The first is relating to context.

There are also main tasks to consolidate the learning and ending with a plenary. This is lesson 4 from a 24 lesson scheme of work that I have created and is available as a bundle. Great Expectations: Dickens' Portrayal of Fagin Lesson Plan

(0)
This is a lesson plan which was used during a recent inspection with a group of Year 9 students while studying Great Expectations (both play and novel). The main task here was to analyse Dickens’ portrayal of Fagin from an extract from the novel. This allowed students to have empathy for Fagin in comparison to their original view of him via his appearance and how he is described by Dickens. This has been edited so that it gives room for you to add student information. Available as part as a whole bundle where the PowerPoints and materials are given.
