This EYFS activity supports sequencing, early reading, handwriting and fine motor skills through the familiar routine of getting dressed.
On page 1, children are given six black-and-white picture cards and can overwrite a simple sentence for each one, for example, “I put on my jumper.”
They can then colour, cut out and arrange the cards in the correct sequence.
Page 2 provides the same six cards in colour, allowing children to focus on reading, cutting and ordering the dressing routine.
For children who need a simpler activity, the resource is differentiated into sets of three cards.
One sheet focuses on “I put on my jumper,” “I put on my socks,” and “I put on my shoes,” with a matching colour version for reading and sequencing.
The final set includes “I put on my coat,” “I put on my scarf,” and “I put on my hat,” again providing a manageable three-step sequence.
The activity encourages children to talk about what comes first, next and last while developing independence and understanding of everyday routines.
