Preterit paragraph conjugation and clue words practice (-ar, -er, -ir verbs)

Students will read 3 paragraphs (1 -ar, 1 -er, and 1 -ir) and do the following:

For each paragraph, complete the following in the template provided.

  1. Write the Spanish translation of the italicized clue word using the word bank
  2. Write the subject (person, place, or thing)
  3. Write the preterit conjugation of the -ar verb in parenthesis

Page 1: -Ar verbs / Page 2: -Er verbs / Page 3: -Ir verbs

Each paragraph has 10 sentences. Note: Sentences do not link to any vocabulary or theme. Only regular verbs are used in the paragraphs.

A word bank is included with clue words (ayer, anoche etc) and -ar, -er, -ir verb endings are provided.

Example:
-AR verbs

(1)Yesterday yo (hablar) con mi amigo. (2) Last night tú (estudiar) en tu casa. (3) Once Ud (cantar) en el coro. (4) Last week él (bailar) con sus amigos. (5) This morning ella (desayunar) en la cocina. (6) Last Monday nosotros (mirar) la tele por dos horas.

Answer key is included on pages 4-6.
This practice can be used as students are being introduced to the preterit. It can also be used for classwork, homework, quiz, entry or exit slip (broken up into sections).
