This resource has been designed for students working towards Functional Skills Maths qualifications at Entry Level 3. It contains an age-appropriate, editable, 130-slide PowerPoint lesson and a 40-page workbook on solving real-life problems.
This resource will help pupils to draw upon and apply knowledge and skills from different mathematical content areas (number and the number system, common measures, shape and space; information and data) to solve real-life problems.
Workbook
The workbook includes 11 information pages, 27 worksheets (with answers), 2 progress checks and a certificate of achievement. Tasks include solving everyday-life word problems using mixed operations, using reverse operations to check answers and solutions and estimating. The workbook is provided in PDF format and an editable PowerPoint version to enable editing and personalisation of the resource. It can be used for classwork, homework, revision or as an independent learning pack.
PowerPoint Lesson
The PowerPoint explains how to choose the correct operation to solve real-life problems. It also explains reverse operations and how they are used to check answers. There are also sections on rounding to 10 and 100 and using rounding in estimations. The PowerPoint contains links to four short videos on word problems, rounding, estimation and reverse calculations. It is an ideal resource to introduce pupils to word problems and for revision purposes.

What a fantastic resource! i bought this as part of the level 3 bundle and have been very please with it. I teach children with significant needs in a special school and this powerpoint and workbook supplements the hands on practical maths lessons I teach. They are clear and simple enough for my learners to fopllow independently and provide sufficienct practise and challenge. An incredibly well planned and developed resouces that has saved myself and many other teachers a lot of time. Very few resources are available accessible for ESOL adults with additional needs / language deprivation. The PowerPoints align with worksheets really well, lessons are paced brilliantly with numerous examples. Resources enable independent work as tasks / steps clear and broken down. Thank you.
I bought this as part of a bundle about a year ago and have been using with great success to support our SEN learners in sixth form. There is more than enough material to support the EL3 scheme of work and my students loved how visual it was. This has saved me hours of planning and I have been able to use as much or as little as needed from the workbooks. I love how there are worded questions at the end of each topic booklet as this is often the area that students need extra practice. Now that I'm teaching Entry level 2 this year, I will be looking through the resources here to purchase some as I know how good they are!
Entry Level 3 maths bundle is awesome resource, especially for our SEN setting. Everything you need to teach the full course with engaging powerpoints and very detailed workbooks for each unit. The workbooks are very extensive, accessible for all learners and a wealth of visually pleasing questions. This resource has hugely simplified my planning and enabled me to easily personalise the learning for each student in my class.
