This is an 'off the shelf' presentation that addresses and suggests a way that 'Peer support' in the form of 'Peer Mentoring' can be used to facilitate and support transition from KS2-KS3. It draws on the work of Jenny Mosley's principle of Quality Circle Time and uses her idea of the 5 steps to Quality Circle time, here the author acknowledges Jenny's work.
This programme has been successfully used in schools and the work was acknowledged and published in 'Moving to Secondary School' Lynda Measor and Mike Fleetham, Network Educational Press (2005) ISBN 1-85539-200-3.
There is supportive material in the form of an organisational plan, an adaptable certificate for peer mentors and a lyrics page to use for analysis and for empathic understanding of the featured music 'I am Beautiful' by Christina Aguilera.
Please feel free to adapt the programme to the specific needs of your school. I hope you enjoy using it in your transition programme.
