**A ready-to-teach Year 6 coordinates lesson focused on four-quadrant grids, plotting points, identifying shapes and finding missing vertices.

This lesson develops pupils’ confidence using coordinates in all four quadrants to solve increasingly challenging geometry problems.**

This Year 6 maths lesson focuses on using four-quadrant coordinates to plot shapes, identify properties and solve missing coordinate problems.

Pupils plot coordinates in all four quadrants and use their understanding of shape and position to identify shapes, find missing vertices and locate the centre of shapes. The lesson includes a range of geometric challenges involving rectangles and parallelograms.

The activities encourage pupils to reason about position, symmetry and shape properties rather than simply plotting individual points.

Teachers can use the included Smart Notebook input slides to model methods clearly and guide pupils through structured examples before independent practice.

Pupils then complete a differentiated independent activity designed to support all learners while still providing appropriate challenge. The tasks develop confidence with four-quadrant coordinates, geometry and SATS-style reasoning questions.

This resource is ideal for Year 6 geometry lessons, KS2 reasoning practice, SATS revision or targeted intervention sessions.
