Introduction to Spanish Búsqueda de palabras

Presentation designed to enhance or revise students knowledge of basic Spanish vocabulary and may be a useful activity as a starter or plenary. The presentation may also be useful in providing meaningful “cover” work and in supporting non-specialist teachers. 6 topics are covered with word searches with different levels of difficulty to allow an element of differentiation. Hyperlinks are embedded throughout the presentation. Comparable presentations in German and French are also available.

Clothes in Spanish and Colour Adjectives - A Complete Guide.

This PowerPoint introduces pupils to a total of 36 items of clothing. The clothes are introduced in 3 sets of 12 items of clothing. In each set there is plenty of practice of each item. Pupils are able to practice answers to question about what they wear and what other people wear/ are wearing (present tense only). There are various activities for them to complete and a lengthy worksheet that accompanies the PowerPoint. Also enclosed in the pack is a word search document. After practicing all of the clothes, the PowerPoint revises colours and goes on to explain adjectival colour agreements with lots of examples. There is a table that pupils can copy or it can be printed, as a reference for all future work with colour adjectival agreements. There is then a range of exercises for pupils to practice talking about clothes and colours. This is a tried and tested method to ensure and check the comprehension throughout.

This game uses pictures for 16 common pieces of clothing: shirt, blouse, pants, belt, necktie, hat, cap, jacket, coat, sweater, socks, shoes, boots, sandals, dress, skirt. Students must identify the clothing (use in sentences to make it more challenging) as they advance along the snail path. Just pictures are given, so it is easy to adapt for each textbook. This is aimed at students who have just started learning clothes with descriptions in Spanish. It is a reading and writing exercise in which students are directed to a website where they have to dress celebrities. The resource starts with reading comprehension. The last two exercises ask them to choose the celebrities outfit, and then write what they have put them in. Prior teaching of clothes items is necessary, as well as accessories and something there is specialised vocabulary such as sleeveless. Computer Access is essential to complete this work.
