A set of phrases that can help pupils ensure they use a sufficient range of complexity at A level - sentence starters, phrases to help with developing points as well as drawing conclusions. A list of adverbs (fillers) also included.

A PowerPoint and worksheet looking at statements that apply to life in a town or village (countryside). Activities include a translation into French, 21 reading game (whole-class reading/listening activity whereby students read 1, 2 or 3 words; anyone who has to read a word by a full stop is out). Also included is a list of speaking questions, either to be completed in class or for homework.

A sheet that helps students to check whether to invert/swap, send the verb to the end, or do nothing. It contains examples to show how the conjunctions/adverbs function in a sentence.

A series of cover work lessons for beginner’s German, covering house types, pencil-case items, birthdays, family members and pets. Alternatively, the tasks could be used as part of your lessons. Across the worksheets, there is a range of tasks including translations, written tasks, reading comprehensions, as well as more creating tasks such as word searches and drawings (family tree, dream zoo etc.)

A new set of IGCSE speaking questions, based on the Edexcel specification topic areas, broken down into sub-sections. Extension (or possibly challenge) questions are highlighted in red, and a range of tenses covered, as well as the ‘warum ist es wichtig, dass…’ type questions.

Several PowerPoints and a worksheet focusing on the ‘Vorbild’ concept within Kapitel 1 of Stimmt 3. The PowerPoints cover adjectives, adverbs, opinions, justifications using a range of higher level subordinate clauses and comparisons. Contemporary photos to support. In lesson 4 (PowerPoint), slide 6, run the slide, and students have to provide the translation for each square - these can be clicked (either by teacher using the mouse, or students can come to board and use a pen) and they disappear, square by square - revealing part of an image ;opportunity to bring in some cultural discussion. Also included is a translation task based on a variety of future tense expressions, based on pp.16-17

Carousel lesson aimed at year 11 students preparing for IGCSE/GCSE. Main focus on perfect, imperfect and pluperfect tenses. Materials include: Lesson plan PowerPoint to accompany lesson - interactive feature for translations (pupils translate a phrase, click on box to make it disappear and reveal part of an image using IWB pen or mouse) Variety of materials that focus on the perfect, imperfect and pluperfect tenses in a narrative context (e.g. cryptograms, gap fill tasks, competitive/timed speaking tasks in groups, AfL task where students have to study a model answer and give feedback/ways to improve - to be used in conjunction with mark scheme) Answers provided for peer or self-assessment.

For use with written work. A list of common errors with a code to use when students identify mistakes made by someone else. This resource contains advice for students in terms of how to improve for each issue highlighted. For example: Problem identified: Adjectives What you can do: Check adjective position (& agreement; don’t forget plurals) Key adjectives before the noun: petit(e); grand(e); joli(e) ; mauvais(e) ; méchant(e) ; meilleur(e) ; vaste ; long(ue) ; beau/belle ; haut(e) ; gros/grosse ; autre etc.

A revision sheet and test relating to the present tense, indefinite article and adjective endings (both in the accusative case). Aimed at beginners in their first year of learning German. Could form part of a 1 lesson diagnostic check of end of unit grammar assessment.

A series of tasks that could form part of revision or for a cover; answers are provided at the end. Task 1: Match up of key school subjects Task 2: Translation into English (some words will likely need to be looked up in a dictionary, but some vocabulary support is provided to help pupils. Focus is on opinions/weil. Task 3: Reading comprehension with questions in English - focus is on times of the day + in the X lesson. Task 4: Pupils to write own paragraph, using tasks 2/3 to support them.

Run PowerPoint, and use back arrow to stop at a random question. 7 key topic areas covered PowerPoint easily adapted. Good for revision in the build-up to GCSE exams.
