This resource is for beginners or near-beginners, and consists of 6 puzzle activities designed to facilitate vocabulary learning. Good for KS2 or KS3.

This resource contains a selection of engaging activities for Shrove Tuesday. The interactive quiz consists of a PowerPoint grid where 16 tiles are flipped one by one to reveal a pancake picture. To accompany it is a maths/general knowledge quiz. The answer to each question is a number between 1 and 16. Give out the quiz sheets and let the class work on them for a short time. Pupils then put their hands up to offer answers and come up to interactive board to flip the corresponding tile. The reading text is a recipe for pancakes. This would be a great practical activity in the morning, with the opportunity to eat pancakes at break! The accompanying comprehension questions, worth 20 marks, are accompanied by a mark scheme. For English, there is a further activity - a pancake poem by Christina Rossetti, which can be exploited for teaching/revising imperative verbs. A follow up task could be to find out something about the poet. The maths task consists of five word problems based on the recipe. Some are quite challenging (eg involving scaling the original recipe).

This worksheet provides an explanation and examples of the use of ‘who, whom, whose’. The exercise which follows challenges pupils to combine simple sentences to make complex sentences linked by a relative pronoun. Answers are supplied, including notes about why some sentences are punctuated differently from others. The objectives are taken from the Y5/6 programme of study, but the worksheet would also be a useful and challenging resource for older students. A 21 slide PowerPoint show on direct and indirect objects and their effect on word order. Indirect objects are shown in two positions in the sentence. One of the early slides has animated entrance effects, but after that, the presentation is teacher controlled, and can be used for whole class work with individual whiteboards. For anyone who can't stand the garish transition effects (pupils will love them!), there is a PDF version of the presentation. Follow-up worksheets are well differentiated. The task for the most able students is to parse the whole sentence. For the middle ability, the direct and indirect objects have to be highlighted in different colours. The least able are required simply to highlight only the indirect object.

Two sets of 5 worksheets (with answers) for helping pupils to memorise the verbs which are conjugated with être in compound tenses. One is a set of crosswords, and the other is a set of wordsearches. Also included is an MP4 version of an animated presentation.

The zip file contains 12 folders, each with 5 versions of a worksheet. The topics covered are taken from the Y1 statutory curriculum for mathematics and include the following: • Counting forwards and backwards in 1s and 2s from a given number • Pictorial counting and addition • Addition and subtraction within 20 • One step word problems to 20 • Before, after and between given numbers • Money (5p, 2p and 1p coins) • Analogue time to the hour and the half hour With the exception of some of the very simple number activities, answer sheets are provided. This revised resource is based on the Edexcel German GCSE 9-1 Future Aspirations, Study and Work topic (foundation tier - 60 words). There are 4 folders, each containing a vocabulary list of 15 words, plus 4 sets of activities based on the list (multiple choice, matching, crosswords and wordsearches). There are 3 versions of the activities in each set, which makes them useful for test situations to prevent collaboration, or to provide extra practice for homework. Answer sheets are included.

The extract (approximately 1100 words from chapter 25) is the scene where Pip visits John Wemmick at his home for the first time. The test paper consists of 13 questions of varying difficulty. An animated 8-slide presentation guides students through present, past and future versions of active and passive voices of verbs. Simple pictures of a rabbit and a carrot show how word order in a sentence can be changed when a passive verb is used, The term ‘agent’ is introduced. There are two versions of the presentation. The teacher-controlled version has a click button between each slide to enable the teacher to pace the lesson according to the needs of the class. The fully automated version is designed to run independently, either at the front of the class, or as an independent literacy-centre or home-learning resource. The classroom poster takes things a bit further, by including versions of tenses not covered in the presentation. This is a resource designed for extension work for more able students. Two worksheets provide follow-up practice. Answer sheets are included.

This collection contains sufficient material on multiples and factors to cover several lessons. The material is designed to equip beginners with the skills necessary to work with fractions. The presentation begins with an introductory slide showing how both multiples and factors are related to multiplication tables. It is then divided into two sections so that the teaching of multiples and factors can be treated separately if desired. Slides are advanced manually, but most are animated with conceal/reveal effects designed to encourage class participation in the lesson. Practice slides are included after each section so that learners can work in a supported way with partners or small groups before tackling fully independent work. Pupil handouts are included (a choice of black and white or colour). They have had answers removed so that they can be used as additional practice material. Learners will find them valuable as reference material when working independently in class or at home. The 35 worksheets are graded according to difficulty and organised into sets of five. There are three sets on multiples and four on factors. For the teacher’s reference, each worksheet has a footer showing the range of numbers used in each set.
