AQA Science Trilogy Assessment Bundle Biology, Chemistry, Physics
Requires Microsoft PowerPoint. 150 Multiple choice questions from the new specification. If Macros are enabled when prompted at the start of the presentation, the powerpoint will mark itself and give feedback (topics of weakness and more specific question feedback). Could be used at the start and end of the year to measure progress. Students can print results on slide 52 and use the feedback for independent learning or homework. I hope this saves you lots of marking. I have included hard copies of the questions and answers in case the ICT lets you down or you want to use it for a cover lesson.
Nutrition Survey, Healthy Eating and Food Labels
Nutrition lesson for Teachers or Health Professionals. Raise awareness about poor food choices through a nutrition survey and highlight healthy diet choices. Food labels and worksheet to teach' reading food labels'. Familiar food labels to supplement labels bought in and for use in ranking foods by nutritional qualities.
Simple Combustion practical - Easy to resource
A PowerPoint with supporting instructions, starter and extension activities. Best if you use tealight candles. Encourages students to consider variables and to make accurate measurements. Students draw a graph to show their results. If students are difficult to motivate then ask them to estimate how long a candle would last in a specific volume (i.e. 300ml beaker) which they will have to produce a graph to extrapolate or interpolate to find this out. You could test a 300ml beaker at the end to test this. The extension activity promotes higher level scientific thought. It is unknown if the carbon dioxide smothers the candle or if the oxygen runs out first. Most students will say the taller candle as this will last longer!
Villi, Digestive Enzymes and modelling absorption activity
The presentation considers the adaptation of Villi to perform their role. Investigate how the structure of Villi make it effective at absorbing water and nutrients. The worksheet explores digestive enzymes and assesses the students understanding.
Plastic debate - Persuasive writing and Science investigation
Cross curricular activity involving English persuasive writing, comprehension, scientific investigation and data analysis skills. Students will debate the use of plastic packaging. Both sides of the argument are presented and the teacher can decide if they choose. Ideal for cross curricular (also citizenship and fund raising) or even a one off cover lesson. Requires printing of colour data sheets (3 A4 per group). Supporting PowerPoint with prompts. Lesson plan. All proceeds will go towards The War on Plastic fund:
New Edexcel GCSE Biology Assessment
Powerpoint online not supported A PowerPoint based assessment consisting of 50 questions from the new Spec. If Macros are enabled the quiz is self marking and give feedback based on weak topics and areas for improvement. Ideal for end of year assessment to identify areas of weakness or gaps in knowledge. May be delivered by a non specialist in an ICT room and answer sheet is included to support them. Students could research the topics suggested when they have finished the assessment. Also available: Physics and Chemistry see my shop Discount for buying as a Bundle.
A2 Ecology coursework planner worksheet A3
A planning tool for ecology students to plan out their practical assignment. Feel free to adapt it.
The body's senses Practical activity and Worksheet
Starter worksheet identifying the body's senses. Extension activity linking animals to their heightened senses. Practical activity requires two pronged hair pins and worksheet provided.
Exam success assembly - Diet, Health, Exercise, PSHE presentation
Use for an exam success assembly, presentation or tutor talk. Includes a diet survey. Tell students this is for a future excursion for honest responses to the menu. Discuss sensible choices using the feedback sheet.
Revision activity - Presenting information in a range of formats
Tape the sheets to a small box (dice). Students choose a topic and roll the dice to determine how to present their information. Adapt slide two with your own topics.
B2,C2,P2 Quiz Exam prep Last minute recap
Question of sport number round style Quiz. Answer 3 key points from each topic image. People tend to recall facts and key information in 3's so it promotes memory. Can also be carried out as a test where students will not see the answers (using the test version included in this sale). The students could then self assess using thee quiz version.
B1 Revision Flip cards Differentiated and Extension
Flip cards to promote memory recall of the edexcel B1 biology topic. Ideal preparation for spotting areas of weakness and independent study. Students line out the cards and answer the question flipping the card to check the answer. Students MUST return to the start if they get the answer wrong (this is key to consolidating the learning). Slide 3 is an extension activity where students come up with the questions to the answers provided. PRINT ONE COPY of slides 1-2 on both sides of A4. CHECK THAT THE BOXES LINE UP and adjust if required by moving one of the tables accordingly. Now print your class set and let the kids cut them out because this ensures a calm start to the lesson.
2018 GCSE Science interactive Revision Bundle
