These bookmarks are perfect to encourage Key Stage 3 students to build an effective reading habit. Students need to read 15 minutes per day, 5 times per week. Parents/carers sign to confirm that their child has read. The file is an editable PowerPoint document. I recommend this is printed onto thin card.

Print off a class set at the start of the year (different levels of difficulty on different colours of paper, perhaps) and laminate. Then these sheets can be quickly put on desks at the start of a lesson, or students can collect them on their way in, to be used for stress-free knowledge retrieval practice.

I use these by printing the quizzes on different colours of paper at the start of the year and laminating them. Then students can be trained to pick up a quiz as they enter the classroom and sit down silently to do knowledge retrieval as the rest of the class arrives. Students can work their way up through the different levels of the quiz so that they can eventually remember the quotations with minimal prompts.
