Contains three classic fiction text extracts accompanied by SATs style questions with answers. The final text in the year 6 reading test is often very challenging and the associated questions require depth of understanding. It can be difficult to find suitable texts and develop suitable questions to practise the skills needed to do well in this section of the SATs reading paper. This resource can help. It contains three: Challenging classic fiction texts Mini-tests containing 10 questions which are similar in style to those commonly found in this section of the test including questions linked to inference, evidence and impressions. Answer sheets similar to the markschemes used in SATs. Reading the text and answering the questions for each mini-test will take about twenty minutes - approximately the same amount of time the children will have to complete the last section of the reading test during SATs. This enables this resource to be used for test practice to develop test technique. The answer sheet can then be used to analyse and discuss suitable answers. The comprehensions are based on the following books: -Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens -Anne of the Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery -The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit

This year 6 reading SATs revision resource is designed to help pupils develop their inference skills. To prepare pupils for reading a challenging narrative text similar in style to the texts which are often found in the third section of the KS2 reading test paper, this resource contains three high-interest extracts from the following classic stories: Aladdin The Secret Garden The Wizard of Oz Each extract has an accompanying short comprehension focused solely on inference and impressions. These comprehensions include complex questions which require evidence similar to the 2-3 mark questions commonly found on the reading SATs . Answer sheets are also provided. This resource is suitable for three reading revision sessions. Including discussion and analysis of suitable answers these sessions are likely to take around 30 minutes each.

This pack contains a selection of EAL resources suitable for newly arrived KS1 and KS2 pupils with little or no English. The focus for this pack is to help EAL beginners to learn key vocabulary associated with school. The pack almost 50 worksheets with activities linked to more than 60 words. Activities include: Handwriting Drawing Matching pictures and words Multiple choice Simple sentence work The pack also contains a pupil information sheet, a phonics check sheet, pictures of all the referenced vocabulary (which could be enlarged and made into flashcards) and an assessment sheet to help monitor pupil’s understanding. The pack is designed to be used flexibly. Teachers can select worksheets as needed to support EAL lessons.
